Photo by @simonnorfolkstudio | Adanac Military Cemetery is a burial ground for those killed in the World War I. It's near the French villages of Miraumont, Pys and Courcelette. The cemetery was laid out after the Armistice of November 11, 1918, when graves were brought in from the battlefields around Courcelette and small cemeteries surrounding Miraumont. The cemetery was designed by Sir Herbert Baker and contains 3186 casualties of the war from the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

I've been working for a couple of years now on a project about the aftermath of the war. For more on this and other projects, follow me @simonnorfolkstudio

@CristinaMittermeier // While travelling by dog sled across sea ice in northern Greenland, we stopped for a moment to rest, but these energetic huskies were more interested in me and my camera than taking a break. For over 4000 years, huskies have been tied to Inuit culture, and without them the Inuit people likely wouldn’t have survived in this harsh Arctic climate. The Inuit continue to lead a fragile way of life, committed to their traditions and culture. However, as sea ice melts more rapidly every year, this extraordinary lifestyle is threatened for all people of the north. #DogSled #Husky #Greenland #SeaIce #Nature

“I really like that it’s not so much about the place as it is about the mood,” says William Smith (@billsmith2315) of his #WHPseasonal submission. “Many times I set out to capture a certain mood rather than the place. Here it’s the beauty of the fall, its atmosphere and the connection between a father and son taking photos together.”

Flying at the Crossing | Photograph by Pim Volkers
“The evening before we noticed a tremendous amount of wildebeest gathering at this crossing. It had rained and they seemed pretty restless,” writes #YourShotPhotographer Pim Volkers. “We checked for the perfect spot and made sure we left very early in the morning to be in the place when the sun would come up. Fortunately, the wildebeest decided to cross when the light was absolutely perfect!”

This photo was submitted to the 2018 @natgeo Photo Contest. We are looking for images that show us the world: its wildlife, people, and places. The link is in our profile. Submission deadline is November 15, 2018. Check out our Instagram Story for more Editors' Favorites from Week 4. Good luck #YourShotPhotographer.
