Today, it was a "mother and baby day". We have started early morning with our 2 rib boats Hårek and Gyda from Spildra. Fishing fleet was already working on herrings and we started the day by an amazing topside session while the light rose up. We didnt see the sun because of polar winter night has come yesterday. Still, the very good weather conditions made the lights amazing today. All around us, more than 200 orcas were eating herring close to this fishing boat. Among these families, we were regularly visited by a mother and a new born. So cute and so clamsy each time he had to breath.
Obeying to the recommandations of cost guards, we didnt put our divers in the water less than 400 meters from the boat in fishing action.
By the way, some operators obviously dont know this recommandation, or dont care about. While our divers were taking topside pic close to the boat, we could see some snorkelers few meters away from the net of the boat. Whales and orcas will not make ot dangerous. But boats can. And we prefered to listen to these recommadations and took some distances from the fleet and could enjoy some great Level 2 USEA UW encounters with another mother and her calf.
In the end of the day, all our guests were happy. Do I have to say how we know that? = battery empty + memory card full.
See you tomorrow, orcas.
