Arsenal will host Belarusian side Bate Borisov in the Emirates and will be hoping to turn the tie around after a shock 1-0 defeat last Thursday. Again, I didn’t find a Bate fan page to speak with due to time constraints but even if I had time, I doubt I would’ve found an English speaking one. Instead, I will speaking about their performance last week in Belarus.
Last week Bate came into the game with a clear blueprint and executed it perfectly. They were well organized in their 433 and broke with pace on the counter. Their final ball lacked and is a main reason why Arsenal are still in the tie. Most importantly, they took a lead and didn’t concede an away goal meaning that they’ll be free to play a similar style of football at the Emirates. One away goal from Bate could virtually end the tie.
After a miserable performance in Belarus, Arsenal will definitely be looking to get back to winning ways. It is imperative that the Gooners start the game well. As I mentioned in the Bate portion of this preview, an away goal could end essentially end tie. Bate will definitely need to maintain or build on their defensive display in order to keep their lead. An onus will be placed on Arsenal to set the temp early on and level the tie. Will Ozil and Ramsey back and Lacazette suspended, it will be interesting to see what Emery lines up with. LINEUP PREDICTION; Leno, AMN, Kos, Sokratis, Kolasinac, Torreira, Ramsey, Ozil, Iwobi, Mkhi, Auba. SCORE PREDICTION; 4-1 Arsenal. COYG!
