Meanwhile, up in space, astronauts from opposing countries are working together, harmoniously, for the greater good. As I always say, if all the world's leaders (or anyone for that matter) went to space and saw the earth from this perspective I bet there'd be far less conflict among nations and far more consideration for the well being of our planet.

The SpaceX Dragon cargo resupply craft captured in the Canadarm2 for docking with the International Space Station this past May 2018. Developed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, this cargo variant of the Dragon spacecraft has been delivering cargo to the ISS since 2012. Crewed missions onboard a Dragon are in the works to move American astronauts to and from the International Space Station.

NASA astronauts Ricky Arnold and Drew Feustel used the Canadarm2 robotic arm to grapple a SpaceX Dragon cargo ship as it approached the ISS over Canada on Monday. This marked the 30th operation where the 57.7 foot (17.6 metre) robotic arm was teleoperated to berth an incoming spacecraft. The Dragon capsule supplied the ISS with nearly 3 tonnes of supplies, including some special treats for the Expedition 56 crew: coffee, ice cream and blueberries!

Interior View
Some prefer windows, and these are the best available on board the International Space Station. Taken on January 4, this snapshot from inside the station's large, seven-window Cupola module also shows off a workstation for controlling Canadarm2. Used to grapple visiting cargo vehicles and assist astronauts during spacewalks, the robotic arm is just outside the window at the right. The Cupola itself is attached to the Earth-facing or nadir port of the station's Tranquility module, offering dynamic panoramas of our fair planet. Seen from the station's 90 minute long, 400 kilometer high orbit, Earth's bright limb is in view above center.

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station managed to capture this image of Europe at night as they orbited 230 miles (370 kilometres) overhead. Canadarm2 was also captured, celebrating its 17th-year anniversary after being installed on the same day in 2001.

#iss#nasa#columbuseye#kepler#fis#amazing#earth#observation#orbit#Canadarm2#space#nature#weather#bestoftheday#videooftheday# @nasa @iss @germanaerospacecenter @europeanspaceagency
