*RANT* Couple weeks ago I went to a baby toddler group to be told it was a breastfeeding only group and I could stay as long as I didn’t feed him and new that I couldn’t come back as it was breastfeeding only. Now I am all for breast feeding, I strongly considered it myself but in the ended decided to go with formula for the simple fact that nobody I know has breast fed, I was confident with formula, where as I wouldn’t have anyone to turn to for advice as far as breast feeding goes. I found this horrendous and disgusting that a place that is meant to be about inclusion and support was prepared to treat a 5 month old baby differently on the grounds that I chose not to breast feed ??!? I have always suffered with anxiety which is what had put me off going to baby group for so long and after this I will definitely not be going back. I am 100% behind the fact that breastfeeding should be done as and when regardless of where you are - how can a mother leave her child hungry? But at the same time shouldn’t formula feeding mothers get the same respect? Inclusion means including everybody, not just the people that you choose.
