Last Saturday, in the wee hours of the morning, I committed myself to a 7:45am rowing class at @ctfchicago with trainer Stacy @stacybstrong. Why would anyone in their right mind wake up at 6:45 am on a weekend if they didn’t have to, let alone trek through 25 degree weather to take an intense rowing class...
Well, one, I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you that planning for this early work out took a lot out of me. I didn’t go out Friday night so I could make sure I woke up, I laid out my gym clothes the night before in case I woke up late, and even when I woke up, I tossed and turned for a good 10 mins debating if I should just cancel... BUT! In the end I didn’t! 🥳 At times during that class I hated myself for it. The rowing class is no joke! Even though it was only 30 mins, it really burned through my legs, back, arms, and had me on one hellauv breathing session.
Although rowing is not my workout of choice, I am so glad I committed to it because it paid dividends after. I was awake, energized, felt accomplished by 8:30am, and I experienced something I never would imagine myself doing. I am a big advocate of “dont knock it unless you try it” motto, and now that I have, I can make my own personal judgements on whether I want to keep at it or not. In conclusion, I choose to keep at it. I plan to take it occasionally because I know this will be very helpful for marathon training, and bb girl got her eyes on killing her performance next year!
Random: My first gym I ever signed up for was @ctfchicago in the West Loop and at that time @betinagozo was the fitness director there (4.5/5 years ago) and look at her now! Go gurl 💪🏽
