Pain tolerance and why “it is [KIND OF] all in your head” 🧠 .
So I know nothing enrages people more than when a physician says that “it is all in your head”🤬 but without likely knowing the pathophysiology of pain, the brain is where pain largely comes from
.
Even if you step on a tack 🔪 or say fracture a bone, there are nerves that carry the painful signal to the brain when it is processed in a number of different locations, interpreted, given “meaning” and consciously felt .
It is not as simple as “❌” amount of injury = “❌ amount of pain .
What it happening in your brain and generally in your life affects how pain is felt
.
The state of the body, brain and most importantly the Nervous system ⚡️has a HUGE impact on how much pain one feels
.
Stress, anxiety, lack of sleep, pro-inflammatory state, lack of movement, greater chronicity of pain ⏳and emotional 😭 trauma associated with the injury is going to increase how bad the pain is
.
🔦Some people are going to have a higher pain tolerance because of the state of their body and how they were raised and taught to interpret and think about pain
.
Cyclists 🚴🏻‍♀️ are one of the best examples of athletes who can tolerate the most pain - actually no one does it better. There is currently a cyclist in the Letourdefrance , lawsoncraddock who is racing with a broken scapula !!!! Clearly he has learned to deal with pain a superhuman / insane capacity
.
⚖️The point of today’s post is to recognize that recovery, nutrition, psychology and mindset all have an important impact on the pain you feel .
Also be aware that if your nervous system and the nerves that carry the pain signal to the 🧠 where you “feel” it, is not healthy, your pain is going to be worse. Correcting this Core Problem is what I help people with

That and helping the original tissue to heal a bit faster 🔑 .

🔹J'ai enfin définis mes objectifs ! Et c'est plus motivé que jamais que je compte les accomplir ! 🔹J'aimerais perdre entre 10 et 15kg mais surtout m'affiner physiquement et me muscler les bras, les épaules et les fesses ! 🍑 🔹Je sais que le poids est une valeur qui peut nous induire en erreurs, si je suis bien musclé, il est évident que je ne perdrais pas autant ! 🔹Je veux aussi m'affiner la taille et les cuisses qui ont toujours été un complexe pour moi ! Maintenant plus qu'à réussir cela ! 💪 🔹J'ai donc décider de manger que des fruits et des légumes, haaaa misère ! Oui, je ne compte plus manger de viandes, et les féculents ce sera que les jours de gros efforts ! Non je ne compte pas m'affamer, mais je compte surtout remettre mon corps "en ordre" ! 😄

Honesty hour.

My diet this past week has been appalling. I’m talking very high carbs, sugar and chocolate 🍫

It has put me in an awful mindset and made me constantly tired and lethargic! -
Today I changed that. I hit some heavy deadlifts and a great lower body session this morning and realised that maybe this high carb diet is actually making me look better and train harder 🧐
-
I’ve never been one to cut or carbs, but it’s the one food group I am most conscious about over eating on, although when I look back in the mirror, I’ve seen nothing but positive results. -
I have realised that for the intensity and frequency I train at, more carbs are needed and so to start, I need to get out this mindset of will carbs. Slowly but steadily 🌚

Looking at where you might be going wrong is a part of development, mentally and physically. I can’t wait to see more changes 😊

I have the best exercise for you biceps 💪 it's my favorite exercise and about to become yours too 😋 The Incline bench spider curl, Badass name right 😂 Here's how to do it -
-
1️⃣Lie against an incline bench, with your arms holding a barbell and hanging down in a horizontal line. This will be your starting position
2️⃣While keeping the upper arms stationary, curl the weight up as high as you can while squeezing the biceps. Breathe out as you perform this portion of the movement. Tip: Only the forearms should move. Do not swing the arms
3️⃣After a second contraction, slowly go back to the starting position as you inhale. Tip: Make sure that you go all of the way down
4️⃣Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions

Variations: You can perform this exercise using an E-Z bar or dumbbells
