Day 139 - Bangkok (Thailand): Thailand, also known as the Kingdom of Thailand is a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy. This image shows King Bhumibol the Great who was the ninth monarch of Thailand as Rama IX, the queen Sirikit and their son now the new King Rama X. Rama IX was the world's longest-reigning head of state, the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history and the longest-reigning monarch having reigned only as an adult, reigning for 70 years, 126 days. He was truly loved by Thai people.
When we visited Thailand the first time in 2017 he had past away only a few months before and the whole country was still mourning him. I remember asking people about him and you could perceive from their words how much they cared for their king. It is interesting to still see images of him throughout Bangkok also now that his son is the new King.
