“When I was studying in Singapore, I weighed over 75 kgs. Being surrounded by petite girls in the country, I wanted to be like them. So I started to starve myself to an extent where I became anorexic. People around me, my professors, friends would be concerned and approach me, asking me if I were unwell, that’s how thin I got; but all I saw was more fat, every time I looked into the mirror.
What brought about a change in my life you might ask. It was my profession. I knew from the very beginning that I wasn’t meant for a corporate 9-5 job. I enjoyed going to the gym, have been going for almost 6 years now. It was in this field as a nutritionist, that I became more informed about what to eat and what not to. I make more informed decisions whenever I now go grocery shopping. You can call this job my passion, because the truth is, it is part of my journey towards recovery. I love my job as this road has a personal struggle attached to it. I don’t want people to make the same mistakes I made when I was younger. Never starve yourself to go thin! It is very unhealthy.”
