Polar bear, as simple as they look, hard subject to draw.
Polar bears are facing tough future. Yes, they are ice bears, pack ice is their habitat. And we/they are loosing ice, rapidly. Maybe yes, Earth itself is in the warm cycle naturally, but definitely yes, human activity is contributing this rapid global climate change. On top of that, pollution is poisoning their body. We, humans, pollute sea water and contaminate natural food resources, and it transmit from small creatures all the way to the top of predator, polar bears. And as it goes to the top, contamination is concentrated.
And there is more, more direct and easiest to manage but somehow it is not managed enough nor educated people enough is..., hunting. Polar bears are hunted nearly 1000 a year. That is whole a lot for the animal who is facing endangerment and already having low reproduction rate and population is not huge. Poaching in all arctic, mainly in Russia, and hunting by Inuit. As Inuit, Traditional hunting for survival but co-existing with this beautiful polar bears for many many years. It’s culturally beautiful but sadly their tradition is taken away and lost. Their spiritual connection is fading as generations changes with new culture and modern lifestyle. So much part of traditional hunting is now lost. (Hopefully not 100%...) This means hunting going on now is becoming more commercial for some hunters. And some bears are killed for wrong reasons.
Many factors are tangled with their survival. But we know, we must not let this animal go. Extinction of animals is step toward our own extinction, we are destroying our planet to inhabitable place.
We must educate ourselves, awake and change.
