I have been asked one question about a million times. “Do you know what you are going to paint before you start painting?” .
That question only usually applies to abstract artists...I hope. Anyway, the thing is, sometimes I do but a lot of times I DONT. It depends what the painting calls for. My favorite painting recently has just diving in to the creativity and not knowing I am headed. I just know it’s going to be fun!
What do you do for fun?!
I 100% overworked this canvas. You can see in the middle frame I had a much rawer and honest portrait with loads more vitality. It can be confronting to face it when you overstep, but freeing when you do so you can make changes. Even my fave artists I look up to have good and bad days. Watch this space. I'm going to rework the "finished " canvas, then use the whole experience as prelim and do a second larger canvas based on the journey. Art! It keeps you up at night!
