So here comes the update. Lola had been given a new name, Molly. She gentle, angelic and extremely sweet. We felt like Molly suit her a lot more. So on Tuesday Molly had her consultation to which the vet has said that she needs her tears unblocked and that the Distichiasis hairs may not be causing the problem and there is no scaring, ulcers or blisters on her eyeballs. She thinks that the hairs are to soft to cause any pain, discomfort or damage. She said that she could be wrong but would like to try flushing the tear ducts first. We took her back Wednesday morning to have them flushed and she was there all day. When collecting her the vet said that the left eye flushed completely and the right is still blocked. While asleep Molly had an X-ray of her snout which came back fine, nasal swabs with came back showing she had some allergy’s and full dental examination. She needs to have her tear ducts flushed again for us to find out if this is what is causing her eye irritation or if it is actually the Distichiasis hairs, in which case she will need surgery. She needs dentals cleaning as for a 2 year old they aren’t in the best shape, and tests to find out her allergies. Since her flush there hasn’t been a great improvement in her eyes so I’m not hopeful at all she’s due back in 3 weeks. I’m also hoping to get some training done with her, although it’s not a necessity I really think as a 2year old she should be enjoying life more. She really hasn’t had any training and has zero confidence. She’s nervous and just wants to curl up in a ball and sleep all day. Does anyone have any tips on what kind of training would be good for her? Also if you could share our donation page or even spare a small donation we would really appreciate it, it’s for the surgery that she may well need please copy and paste the link https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Lola-the-minature-dachshund or go to my profile and click the link in my bio
