Happy International Day of Yoga ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’• Funnily enough, Yoga is the reason I am a Pilates teacher.
I didnโ€™t get yoga at first.
Hyper mobile joints allowed me to get into poses easily but I didnโ€™t feel them.
My back would hurt in the deep back bends teachers would encourage me into.
My shoulders hurt from down dog (and how on Earth was this a rest pose??) I was my lack of understanding yoga and my body that took me into Pilates.
There I understood how to engage my core.
I got that going to the end range was not my goal but to hold back and build the strength I needed.
I learned to listen to my body.
Then I got yoga. Now I adore it.
Yoga is not above poses like the one above - even if theyโ€™re beautiful and fun, but it is about learning to listen to your body.
Wishing you all a wonderful and beautiful day filled with gratitude and happiness.
Ultimately that is what yoga truly is.

Chest day hit like a hurricane
Smashing sets after sets. L9ve the set of 5 heavy and 15 light. Got 42.5kg moving for all three sets and 22kg for light so I am a happy bunny.
We also trained bench differently last night doing half reps to get our muscles used to the explosion from the bottom and the top end push.

When starting a phase of dieting or on a journey to transform your body, you want to draw up a plan of action.

Calculating your protein, carbohydrate and fat needs is usually where most start but will these 'magical' numbers mean you will be successful?

Well no it certainly won't, in theory, these numbers are important for a number of psychological and physiological factors throughout your transformation. For instance, protein helps preserve lean tissue and increase it, carbohydrates will help with energy production and pushing you in the gym, fats help with hormonal balance and important for your cells.

Even if you spend hours calculating the perfect plan of action with the right amount of macronutrients and an amazing training plan with just the right amount of volume/rest factored to change your body. The real magic lies in your ability to adhere to a plan.

It seems pretty simple but I wish it was seen in the same light. Most people want to jump between different fads and programs looking for the 'magic' but don't realise that will only result in more disappointment because they're failing to follow the number 1 rule - adherence.
_
The success of ANY plan is in your ability to execute and adhere to it. All these numbers are an estimate after all, sometimes things may not go quite the way you expected. This is why you can go BACK and make a few changes if needed so you CAN adhere to it.

Learning to be patient in your training or diet will be an incredibly useful tool. Results don't happen overnight, so learning to take the small, daily victories is a very important concept.

This is especially true for those just starting out. You may want overnight results, but that's just not how it works in fitness. Don't fall for those quick fixes promising instant results, unless they're selling magic it's not going to work.
