Today feels like a Monday for me and I’m slowly getting back to into my work flow after a wonderful vacation and celebrating our wedding with our family & friends. It was an absolute fairy tale and I couldn’t have asked for a better day for my husband and I (it feels so weird saying that 🤣). I’m excited and ready to get back to work and feeling much more rested than I have in months!
I wanted to hop on here and talk about rest and being a business owner. If there’s one thing I learned this week as a business owner, it’s that rest is SO important! 😴 For the past 2 weeks I decided to take a vacation and boy... did I need one. I had been running my wheels into the ground for months, telling myself “Only 2 more weeks and you can rest”. I was on the go so much that I didn’t know how to stop myself. Finally when vacation time came around I didn’t know how to turn my brain off 🧠. Yeah, you read that right! I didn’t know how to relax, how to not feel guilty for taking time away. Finally I decided to turn off all emails, notifications, etc. and would you believe me if I told you that was the best decision I have made for myself in a long time? .
You see as business owners we think “Man I’ll lose followers if I do that!” “I’ll make a client mad if I don’t answer right away!” But the truth is, no, you won’t. These things can wait. Your mental health and knowing how and when to disconnect is so important. Believe it or not, my follower count went up while I was gone, my clients sent me so many loving supportive emails of me taking time for my wedding, I was actually pleasantly surprised! I never got a nasty email, I never lost what I had built, but I was left feeling so much more rested, happy, and ready to come back to work when the time came. .
So today I encourage you to make time for rest. Don’t overlook it and say you’ll get to it when you can. Don’t tell yourself it doesn’t matter, because it does. Take time to build yourself from the outside in. You’d be surprised how much more creative, inspired, and overall fulfilled you feel 😌❤️ (Photo from unsplash)
