Quite hard to label this item. Great Depression ware, homemade engineering, tramp art, or no-we-can’t-afford-it-but-I-make-you-one? It is a home made bench top, electric, food mixer - mix master. Quite an amazing thing. Everything is handmade, the beaters and even the bowl. Not sure about the age, but my guess is just after WW2. Pretty much based on a Sunbeam Mix Master or a Kenwood Chef. Most likely made, here in Australia, by a poor migrant. Maybe a 10 pound Pom or one of the young Mediterranean migrants, crafted this machine for their wife. I wonder if she was proud of him?
It was given to me when I was still chasing early electric toasters, kettles and coffee machines. I forgot about it for years, until a friend showed me with pride the home made depression era kettle, he just purchased. So I dug it out for him and hope he will like it. #thekraftsman
