There’s been a huge fitness industry fad claiming that doing fasted cardio is better than fed cardio. Here’s the science and my verdict⬇️

Reasons for Fed:
🔥Food is fuel. You need fuel to train. When you fuel up before a workout, you have more energy to complete and push yourself in the workout.
🔥By eating before cardio, you’re giving your body something to burn off, and thus preserving your muscles.
🔥Fasted cardio actually stops excess Post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) from taking place meaning your body won’t continue to burn calories at that high rate after cardio. Thus fed cardio allows you to burn more calories post workout, as your EPOC levels are increased.

Reasons for Fasted:
🔥The idea behind fasted cardio is that because you are fasted, your glycogen stores are depleted and thus whatever you burn will be stored fat
🔥also when you eat, your insulin levels increase to carry the glucose you just ate into the cell. Insulin interrupts the body’s ability to burn fat

MY VERDICT:
😊There really is no “better” option in my opinion. The better option is whatever works best for you, your preferences and your lifestyle/schedule.
Some people like doing fasted cardio because they feel heavier after eating, but others prefer fed cardio because they can’t fathom the thought of not eating before a workout.
Some people like working out before work and don’t wanna eat at 4am, other workout after school/work in a fed state because it fits their lifestyle. All in all, choose what works best for you!

Life is crazy. I work full time, my husband is in the military and has been pulling a lot of 24 hour shifts. We are getting ready to move cross country to start completely new lives. We don’t live near family and have just a few close friends in our current area. There’s only 24 hours in a day but i need more. But i fit in the things that are priority to me. If i have to wake up earlier or stay up later to get a workout and meal prep in, i will. I am so tired some days. But there will never be a day where I’m not gonna be “too busy”. So I’m gonna get it in when i can 🤜🏼
