DT Swiss R1900 wheels would be a nice budget wheelset if they hadn't skimped on the spokes! The stock spoke appears to be a straight gauge 2.0mm thick DT Champion, and the wheels are notoriously bad for low-milage spoke breakages.
Intuitively a thicker, fatter spoke must be stronger, right? But not in a durability sense, as the stress each straight gauge spoke bears is concentrated on the bend and threads, fatiguing the spoke. A butted spoke (thinner in the middle) lasts longer, as the stress is spread across the longer, thinner section.
After breaking four spokes on the rear the owner had had enough.
Rebuilt the pair with new Sapim Force spokes front and drive side, Sapim Race non drive side.
Just like a new pair, only lighter, stronger, better!
