WORK REST RECOVER ADAPT
When any stage of this process is overlooked, we fail to make results at best. Over exert, Regress and open to injury / imbalance at worst. 1.WORK 2.REST whereas too many Gorillas either 1.WORK 2.WORK or 1.REST 2. REST.
Today I wanted to pay homage to stimulusrecoveryadaption cycle. Everyone is at different stages of development. There cannot be any “blanket statements” when it comes to this cycle. Everyone recovers and adapts as different rates. This is where it pays to listen to your body.
It’s not just because everyone is different from a physiological sense, but everyone is different from a developmental sense. And everyone is having a completely different experience in training / life. We’re all at different stages of our journey.
The one working hardest in the room ain’t making the most Vegainz. It goes to the Gorilla working the smartest. Being self aware - the answer isn’t always to push forwards - Sometimes the answer is to back off.
When a is stuck on a particular lift, not all of the time, but what is often needed is one of two things. It needs More work or less work. Push forward or back off, and allowing for more recovery. Training and resting is like the philosophy of Dualism, Ying and Yang, magnetic forces, balance - they’re both in a relationship. Adaption only occurs during rest. Adaption can only take place if it has the stimulus to do so.
Your only going to get as strong as your recovery game allows for. REST IS REAL. The more you take from your reserves the more you need to eat, sleep and rest. Regardless of what it says on paper, Becoming a good listener takes practice and experience. Treat your recovery protocols just like your training. It’s balance. Destroy the myth. Make Vegainz.
