So what exercises should you do to lose body fat? What about building muscle mass? Well I'm going to tell you, no exercise itself, physiologically, is going to make you lose fat or build muscle. So many more factors come into play here such as nutrition, progressive overload, intensity, sleep, and most importantly, consistency. These variables are what is going to determine if you gain or lose weight, not a specific exercise. For example, doing deadlifts are awesome for growth hormone output and is a strenuous exercise that has the POTENTIAL to build serious muscle. However, if you're eating like crap, you aren't doing them with correct form or intensity, you aren't sleeping enough, and you only do them once a month, you probably are not going to gain muscle with them. Likewise, you can do a bodyweight HIIT circuit with dips and pull-ups in effort to lose body fat, but if the other variables are subpar, results are not going to come.
