Results are official!! Earning a title of NPAA Elite Pro Bikini!! Over 6 years of going to the gym and the last 18 months on prep before stepping on stage for the first time!!


Placing 🥇first in Novice Bikini Short 🥇 1st in Open Bikini. Winning the Open Bikini gave me the NPAA Elite Pro Bikini status to go against other Pro Bikini Athletes. Then placing 🥉3rd overall in Elite Bikini Pro!! Thank you for an amazing experience @npaasport

“Planning, peaking, deloading and variation.⠀

This is the first year where I planned my goals for the entire year.⠀

They are- 1. Compete in the Tactical Strength Challenge this spring, complete. 2. Start learning jiu-jitsu, complete the next belt in kenpo this summer as well as climb Mt. St Helens. These goals are underway. 3. Complete kettlebell instructor level 2 curriculum and earn my cert this fall/winter. ⠀

Peaking- peaking for competition is exhausting. I didn't 100% nail the peaking for the Tactical Strength Challenge, but I did well. The biggest lesson here is I had no concept of the level of fatigue I had built up until I went on vacation and deloaded.⠀

Deloading- after you push your body to it's limits, you need some planned rest and variation. I decided to take vacation right after comp. I took a kettlebell with me and did some easy workouts and walked a bunch. Deload week wasn't beer, pizza, ice cream by the pool. I was pretty active and kept my nutrition at 90% or better of my plan.⠀

Variation. The body and mind like a mix of variation and repetition. A good training program has both. I was very excited when I started training for the TSC, and I kept motivation and energy through until the day. And now I'm very excited to be concentrating more on martial arts. And I'm also looking forward to diving into the intensive kettlebell work this fall. ⠀

Everyone has a different program with different goals. I think everyone should try a competition of some sort. I also think folks should have an activity or two that they love that's outside of the gym. I know I've said it before, but you should embrace and enjoy your training. Gli amici veri sono quelli che a mangiare un hamburger in compagnia prendono quello che hai preso tu, e si beccano anche i tuoi cetrioli avanzati. Gli amici veri sono quelli che ti vedono la mattina e ti mandano affanculo, perché loro sembrano zombie e tu sembri perfetta come sempre. Gli amici veri si fanno stritolare le ossa di una mano per tenerti buona mentre vorresti strangolare un professore, sono quelli che ti preparano il pranzo, perché sanno che piuttosto che doverlo fare, lo salteresti. Gli amici veri sono quelli che al “ti prego usciamo” rispondono sempre di si, perché ti conoscono e sanno che ne hai bisogno. Gli amici veri sono quelli che ti fanno passare quattro ore seduta al tavolo del Mc Donald’s a ridere e scherzare senza che tu te ne accorga. I veri amici chiedono se hai bisogno di essere accompagnata a casa, che “in giro c'è brutta gente”, e ti chiamano quando scoprono che sei finita in ambulanza. I veri amici anche senza mille dimostrazioni di affetto sanno che ci tieni.
I veri amici ci sono sempre e, anche quando non li vedi, sai di poter sempre contare su di loro...❤️

“Training plans: intuitive vs. well structured, pros cons and all that.⠀

I definitely advocate for having a very structured training plan, at least most of the time. I get my stuff from folks that write really solid programs. I'm at a place where I'm still learning what works for me.⠀

I've found that the structure generally keeps me from trying to do too much, and can also make me do work that I might avoid. Because I'm no good at it. Which means I need to do more of it.⠀

That being said, listening to your intuition is quite valuable as well. Sometimes it's nice to work a session that isn't planned or structured. Just do whatever. I think of these as easy practice more than anything. I do more of these types of workouts on vacations. ⠀

Again, I'm definitely a structured plan guy. I like to know what I'm doing on what day for 6 weeks at a time. But that's me.⠀

“Nutrition: structure vs intuition⠀

Here's an area where I recommend both structure (at first) then using intuition.⠀

I think its valuable to track macros, weigh and measure, be very precise with your food for a period of time. Especially when you are trying something new.⠀

However, there's a point where you should have weighed and measured enough that you know how much food to eat. Now you should ditch the tracking and do it on your own.⠀

If you find you're getting off track, start tracking precisely again. ⠀

I think this is a recipe for sustainability around a nutrition plan. ⠀

It's also vital to build appetite and hunger awareness. I really like Precision Nutrition's guideline of eat slowly, stop at 80% full.⠀

🦄You don’t need to be so sore you can barely sit on the toilet.⠀
🦄You don’t need to punish yourself to be effective.⠀
🦄And you absolutely don’t need to (and never should) push through an injury or serious pain.⠀

☕️Remember —> sore, sweaty, & tired doesn’t mean your workout was better or more effective. It means you‘re sore, sweaty, & tired. That’s it. And if you’re working your sumptuous unicorn tuchus off in the gym but aren’t happy with your results, it might be worthwhile to reevaluate your plan.⠀

Because it doesn’t take a great coach or program to make you sore, sweaty, & tired - that’s easy. But it does take a great coach or program to produce real, visible results.⠀

Having said that, and as Dumbledore once told me over a treacle tart, working out is NOT supposed to tickle.⠀

☕️If you’re doing it right there will be times in which you’re uncomfortable (very different than injury-related pain).⠀
☕️There will be times in which your muscles are burning (in a safe, healthy, productive way - but still not comfortable).⠀
☕️There will be times you want to quit.⠀
☕️There will be times you get nervous and question whether or not you’ll be able to make it the whole way through.⠀

And that’s a good thing. Because you’re trying. You’re pushing outside your comfort zone. You’re working to achieve your goals. And you understand success doesn’t come from avoiding pain - it comes from taking consistent, deliberate action, adjusting to each obstacle as it comes. Sometimes adjusting means pushing forward. Other times it means taking a step back.⠀

Either way, the most important thing to understand is you don’t need to put yourself at risk or push through an injury to see results. That said, don’t forget the only way to change your body is by challenging it. No need to rush, but push yourself. Challenge yourself. Dig deep. See what you’re capable
