In the end, we are all but stories. A one liners. A fading memory or a forgotten love. When you think about that, does it make sense why we invest so highly on ourselves like we are going to be here forever? Why we let futile egos get to us? Why we try to establish dominance? Why we yearn to acquire more and the best? All for this little life of ours. The moment we realize it, that we are not forever but the planet we live on is, life in some form is, then I think we develop a different outlook to life. Atleast to me, that was my turning point. I was trying to be earth conscious since a child but certainly always wanted that best dress or shoes. I hated hand me downs even from my own cousins. Thought it was insulting. Until one day, I realized, all my human ego is eventually for nothing. Then nothing I did in my life made sense. I wanted to reuse, relove, repurpose everything. Used and not loved anymore things became my favorite. I started looking for alternatives and used ones before buying something new. Not that I dont buy anything new anymore but I try to find an alternative before I do. I couldn't have been more happy and I actually found more unique & quality finds in this new journey so far than i ever did when I always went to huge stores. And think of all that packaging I avoid! And I am proud of the little shops I support and the little waste I create. Most importantly, I love seeing my ego fade away. A lifestyle change is not easy. It takes a while to accept it and then to adapt. I am still somewhere there. But being open and transparent about it I believe will help me with the process more easily :) .
