The more I cook, the more I skip the mixes and such at the grocery store and make my own. I save money. And, it's cleaner and healthier eating.
I started making my own pancake/waffle mix about a year ago. I make the kids waffles or pancakes two or three times a week easy. They love them. We're gluten free around here. And, if you've never seen the pricing on gluten free pancake/waffle mixes, it'll put you in the poor house for how often we eat them. Really.
So, I started making my own mix in quantities for 4-6 batches of pancakes/waffles. I just add my buttermilk, melted butter, and egg, and I'm set. They are delish. They are gluten free. I save a boatload of money. And, it only takes my five minutes to make the mix.
The other one I just started doing is making my own taco seasoning. No more packets around here for us! Super easy and delish. When I make a batch, it'll make me 6-8 rounds of tacos easy. Just simply spices.
The beauty of making it homemade? - No preservatives - No artificial ingredients - I know EXACTLY what's in it - Saves money - Requires very little time - No excess salt, sodium, MSG - Completely UNPROCESSED
And, all those things are important to me and my ongoing health and nutrition. Eating REAL food instead of food "product" that line many grocery store aisles and shelves.
How about you? What do you make at home instead of buying the premade mix or packet?
