I’ve always been fascinated by the Berlin Wall, and finally visited the Museum today for the first time. It’s sad and a little strange how relevant it feels. It seems like the news today (in Germany and in the US) is all about borders, walls, and migration. I’m particularly interested in the physical space that wall used to occupy, the infrastructure that supported it, and especially the maps in place that legitimized it. This map from East Germany for examples, totally negates the existence of West Germany - replacing it with an unknowable white void.
