Swear this is the only road I take pictures of when I’m running.... stick with me, it’s relevant!! *Long post alert* 1/2
I started running again in late June, having not allowed myself the time to run during my exams (looking back on it, I probably would have been better off physically and mentally if I had kept running however it’s happened now!) I’ve gone on 6ish runs since I started running again, and I’ve really enjoyed it. I was thinking last night however that I need to start pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
My runs are all very similar, I go the same way every time, up and down the road pictured, and then up and around another area of the town, and back the way I came. It’s okay, relatively flat, and I know it very well. However... I don’t feel I’m progressing and I’m almost at a standstill as my times aren’t getting faster, my pacing is still inconsistent and in all honesty I’m getting bored.
I’ve weirdly really enjoyed just running, not for anything, just because I can.
I was thinking on last nights run however that I would like to set some short and longer term goals.
Number one, is to make running play a more important part in my routines, having some runs planned, and saving those easier paced runs for the days when I just want to, or feel I need to get out and run.
Number two, is to put myself out of my comfort zone more often. Running a different route, trying a hill workout or speed sessions and incorporating different training. This is my biggest weakness currently, and something I would like to work on. (Continued...)
