HAPPY FEET 👣💙 while living the "barefoot life"

Give your feet some LOVE 💜 They are carrying us to all of our dreams. 🙏

During vipassana, living in simplicity, I haven't worn anything on my feet. Walking barefoot for 2 weeks is a physical, mental and emotional freedom.

Connecting with nature, absorbing the free flow of energy from earth, becoming grounded.. Those two weeks were all about becoming more mindful, returning to our own true nature inside, and creating mental clarity. And daily (barefoot) walking meditation was a beautiful part of that.

It's incredible the impact walking has on our body composition, or connection with earth and nature, or physical and mental health.. and walking mindful as a meditation technique, brings us right in the present, in peace, in connection with ourself and nature.

The biggest change in my mind that I noticed, was when I became aware that I was not just feeling the sand under my feet, but the separate grains of sand.. (I might sound like a crazy woman 😁 but it was an amazing moment, observing how my head was so clear, and open to notice more in this life) .

Connecting with earth releases a lot of energy that can't escape when we keep our feet locked up and don't give them enough care and love.. For me, walking barefoot, became a practice of simplicity, gratitude, patience, mindfulness, relaxation, observation,.. All in the present moment. And only >practice< will teach you how to apply these things in your daily life.. Making our world a more peaceful place where we all are grateful for the life (and 1 body) that is given to us.

So give your feet some extra attention when you come onto your mat today 😘 From the warm up, to mindful standing and moving, and definitely don't forget the conscious relaxation in the end.. Focus on your feet 😍

More than 150,000 tons of food are sent to the dump every single day in the United States, enough to feed 2 billion people
.
The average American throws out a pound of food per day, mostly fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat, a new USDA study finds
.
That’s a total of 150,000 tons of food per year, enough to feed 2 billion extra people per year
.
More than 30 million acres of land and 4 trillion gallons of water are wasted growing this food
.
Americans eating the healthiest diets are the most wasteful, because of their high consumption of fruits and vegetables, as opposed to highly processed non-perishable foods, which don’t go bad as fast
.
“We need a simultaneous effort to increase food quality as well as reduce food waste,” said study co-author Lisa Jahns, a USDA nutritionist
.
Another recent report by the Center for Biological Diversity found grocery stores are just as wasteful than individual consumers
.
Only four of the 10 largest grocery chains in the US have food specific waste reduction commitments. Another four chains don’t have any policy in place to prevent the waste of food considered too cosmetically “imperfect” to sell
.
Walmart achieved the highest grade in food waste prevention, a B, while Aldi got the worst, an F. Trader Joe’s, Target and Whole Foods all received a grade D
.
“There is just so much wasted food at so many levels,” said Jordan Figueiredo, who runs the “Ugly” Fruit and Veg Campaign and collaborated on the report
.
“Supermarkets usually get a free pass for doing anything to reduce wasted food or donate extra food. There is so much more they can and should do to reduce wasted food, especially given that they are essentially the gatekeepers for our food.”

Figueiredo said there needs to be better funding for food recovery and wider use of composting, which is only available to about one in 10 Americans.

Tea leaves contain one of the most effective treatments for lung cancer to date, scientists have “accidentally” discovered
.
Researchers from India and the UK were manufacturing nanoparticles from tea leaves to help detect lung cancer tumors
.
They were amazed to discover the “quantum dots” not only detected, but also “destroyed” 80% of the lung cancer cells they helped find
.
Quantum dots are tiny nanoparticles, 4,000th of the width of a human hair. They’re useful for tumor imaging because their changeable structure gives them fluorescence when they’re hit with light
.
Until now they’ve been made chemically, but the process is complicated, expensive and toxic. So the researchers were exploring a non-toxic, plant-based alternative for producing the dots, using camellia sinensis tea leaf extract
.
“The main reason we started looking at tea leaves is that chemically synthesized quantum dots cost between £250 and £500 per micro-gram, whereas organically-derived ones can be manufactured for £10 per microgram, and at the same time they don’t poison healthy cells surrounding the cancer,” lead researcher Sudhagar Pitchaimuthu told BBC News
.
“They had exceptional fluorescence emission for cancer cell bio-imaging, but the cherry on the cake was finding the cells were dying off and weren’t able to replicate themselves.” Apparently the quantum dots were small enough to penetrate the “nanopores” of the cancer cell walls.

The polyphenols, amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants in the tea leaf dots — which aren’t present in chemically made dots — induce cancer cell death by a process called apoptosis, obliterating the DNA information they require to reproduce themselves.

Pitchaimuthu, an engineer from Swansea University, said harnessing the power of the quantum dots as a real-world lung cancer treatment could still be some years off: “First we have to scale-up the production from the tiny amounts we’ve created in the laboratory, to create a quantum dot factory.” “We hope to start live laboratory trials shortly, with human clinical trials following in around two years if all goes well, so perhaps in a decade we could have a widely-available treatment.”

This technique will help you to calmly accept your feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.

FACT: Worry creates stress and disharmony. Worry does not exist in the moment. It comes from the past, and it’s projected into the future.
In this simple technique I’m not going to show you how to empty your mind. Other techniques will show you this. But my way might lead to the same result.
This is how I become mindful of who I am, and connect to the moment:
Sit somewhere peacefully, and mentally focus first on your stomach area. Try and feel it. What is it doing? Is it rumbling? Are you hungry? It doesn’t matter, just be mindful of whatever is happening down there. Now take your mindful focus, and branch out to the ends of your limbs. Mentally move from to the tip of your fingers, toes, to the top of your head.
Take it all in at once. Try and feel your entire being at once. Pay attention to your thoughts, and any physical sensations. Focusing on your entire body at once should naturally empty your mind. Stay in this state of mind as long as you can. And congratulations: you have now become who you really are: pure consciousness, the observer. You are not just your thoughts and body, you are this strange watching awareness that can be mindful of everything at once like a cosmic sponge.

➖Lavender sprigs for garnish

Directions

Mix all ingredients together and chill. Add more water or raw honey if needed.

We’ve reached the end of the week and its common nature for things to progressively slow down as we break off into the weekend. Refrain from overcommitting yourself with plans over the course of the next few days. We are heading into a streak of Yellow Days, so make sure to allot extra time for any activities already planned.
Yellow Days can simply bring complications, distractions, delays related to changes or technology breakdowns.
A classic example of a Yellow Day occurrence is walking into your usual morning tea/coffee shop and the line is three times as long as usual because the cash register is broken or the wifi connection is slow.

You always have a choice in how you respond to the circumstances of life.
Yellow Days prompt us to be prepared for change, and as a result we can be calmer or laugh at how life is full of surprises.
Delight in the unknown changes ~ it keeps life dynamic.

It was all unique.

It was life changing.

Feeling different, got a lot of clarity about many things in the life I live, and of life itself. And I guess it takes a little while as well to get used to this daily life again, and to find my way to balance this life with all the things I learned the past two weeks. .

So much gratitude for this unforgettable period that just came to an end. I'm taking a lot home with me.. I'll share some pics in my story today, so you can have a little bit of an idea where I found a deeper understanding of this mind, body and life.
