Today I awoke to some absolutely devastating news, a good friend of mine lost the battle with depression.
Rest in peace my dude <3
Look, I know what it's like, I've been there, I've been in some really dark places, but I found a light. The universe sent me something right when I needed it the most and for that I will be forever grateful.
As a man, talking about your feelings and the things that are troubling you is frowned upon by society. We are expected to be these cold, calculated, emotionless robots; that is so far from the truth.
Growing up, I was told time and time again to "harden up" "don't be so soft" "what are you, you girl?" those words, unbeknownst to me, would change my life.
For a long time one of my most toxic traits is the idea that I don't need help from anybody, I'm strong enough to face any obstacles that life may put in my way.
I pushed people away because I didn't want to burden them with my issues, or because I felt like they would think less of me. Now I realize that, this isn't the case.
It's okay to cry, it's okay to be soft, it's okay to talk about how you feel. My DMs will always be open 24/7/365 if you ever need a someone to talk, weither It's, depression, societal expectations or even if you're just at a crossroads in life. I can't guarantee I will be able to fix everything but I can guarantee that I will offer you a safe place where you can come and be heard.
Take care of yourself and the people in your life!!!
Take the time out everyday to ask someone how they're going, and not just this:
"Hey how are ya?"
"Yeah I'm good"
That's bullshit, be open, and talk about stuff, build that emotional characteristic.
Your emotions are not a weakness, they are a strength.
Be excellent to each other <3
