Okeydokey, #multitasking post on this #motherlovinmonday
If you haven't been able to tell, I don't like to waste things...and that includes #food !
So a few years ago, I started saving the odds and ends from my cooking, like the butts, tops and leaves from #celery #carrots #onion etc, and making #broth from them. I throw in cherry tomatoes that have gotten just a little wrinkly, along with #freshherbs that have dried out a bit too much in the fridge...honestly, you can throw in whatever you like! Oh, and salt...I DEFINITELY always add salt, bc #yum. I also cook chicken often, so usually have some of the good stuff leftover from that and really love to make chicken broth, but love veggie broth, too.
Recently, I rediscovered my love of my #crockpot and so have begun making #overnight #crockpotbroth Just throw everything in the pot with a bunch of water on low for the night, strain into jars through a fine mesh sieve in the morning, and #voila ! It's so blissfully easy AND cuts down on wasting AND saves money (can't remember the last time I bought broth,) so I felt like it needed to be shared
So you #motherlovah #cooks should give it a whirl - seriously simple and oh so satisfying to see/taste the #finishedproduct ... for which you barely did any work but will make other dishes you prepare SO much tastier than plain water!
P.S. if you don't like to cook, you probably don't end up with odds and ends anyway, and believe me when I say that I don't think there's anything wrong with buying broth...just trust me that this tastes so much better Try it!
