Most of the time we create our own disappointment through unrealistic expectations, whether it's from what we expect from ourselves or from others.
I often have moments where I think to myself, things were supposed to be different... I'm not where I 'expected' to be, or I 'expected' that person to do that, which only encourages depression and anxiety.
When we stop expecting people to be perfect, including ourselves, we stop being dissatisfied with what is a false reality created in our minds. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with setting goals as it is healthy and gives us direction, but let's not get caught up in society's pressures of what is expected and learn to appreciate more.
As the saying goes, happy people are not those who have the best of everything but the ones who make the best of everything they have. 💖
