In his book A.L.Rowse makes a suggestion that Kit M. might have written letters to Thomas W. (The letters no one even heard of. Brilliant! Maybe that's because they have been burnt/destroyed immediately. Yet, I'm certain it's only Rowse's assumption based on the supposition that Shakespeare might have scribbed letters to Southampton along with his sonnets.) Possibly. The Greeks invented secret messages. Kit was their biggest fan (I mean not just Ovid, but all greek culture in general) and surely might have studied this aspect. Thomas worked for the Intelligence and had a circle of various acquaintances. Both might have been familiar with a vast number of codes, ciphers, spies and their methods. So, my point is, could these two, being tremendously crafty, might have created and used their own messaging system?
Actually, I'm thinking over sort of a secret letter in my essay... written in milk, probably.
