I live a miraculous life. 🙌🏼 Here’s what I mean. When I hired a personal trainer 💪🏼 a few months ago, I started looking for a protein shake that is effective (20+ grams of protein) and ultra clean (ZERO artificial ingredients & low in sugar) with as few potential allergens as possible — so no dairy, soy, gluten, or eggs. I ordered a few different brands from Amazon and none of them passed my test, being that they were either too calorific, too high in carbs, or tasted like chalk.⁣⁣

Guys listen to your body!! You have no idea how important it is to listen, accept, and follow the signs your body is telling you. It seems like common sense but all of the stigmas and unhealthy “trends” in our society manipulate our minds and lifestyles. Our bodies were made to give us signs when they are IN NEED of something not just because they want it!! Take my day today for example, I was trying a day with a raw vegan diet solely for fun and to see if I would feel any improvements in energy, freshness, or just well being in general. I got to after lunch and felt pretty satisfied but then after an hour or two felt pretty irritable. I wasn’t satisfied. I wasn’t happy. I was tired. And I was hungry. I went to grab a snack and reached for the berries and ate them all and then thought to myself I’m supposed to be doing this to feel better. And I don’t feel good AT ALL so what am I doing??!!! So then I went ahead and ate an entire bag of TOASTED almonds and a @justins chocolate cashew butter cup. I felt satisfied after and I’ve learned that a raw vegan diet just isn’t sustainable for me or my lifestyle. So I know what works for me and I will stick to it. I’m proud I listened to my body and followed what it need. And now I feel AMAZING 😇

When I was around 17 years old I lost a close friend that I truly and genuinely cared about with all my heart to leukemia. Years passed and I lost 2 uncles to cancer. This breaks my heart in ways that words cant describe. When I buried my father in 2000 it was a wake up call for me to get my 💩 together because I didnt want to get sick and be overweight. I've seen people close to me suffer from diabetes, cancer, high cholesterol, etc.. after years of research and transitioning to a clean eating lifestyle, I come to find out all these sicknesses and weight issues that people have are due to poor nutrition and lack of knowledge. This typical American diet that they call it is harming the people we love & maybe even yourself. If you educate yourself about the pros of living a plant-based lifestyle and you may see that this typical American diet as others may call it, is not good for you. I'm not trying to scare you, judge you, force you into a lifestyle that you're not ready for. I can assure you though, that a plant-based lifestyle is the best choice a person could make for themselves and their loved ones; but you have to want it for yourself. This is the choice you have to make. Maybe meditate about it. Overall I wish you all lots of love & a long healthy, happy life.

As I was traveling home from Greece yesterday, I was perusing some of my foodie pictures (specifically smoothie bowls) and I swear I could actually feel my body craving nutrients. * *
After a few days off my usual diet and routine my body was already like um hello can you eat more than bread and olives please. *

So today I made a trip to the 4th Street Co Op-yes the same 4th street Bob Dylan was talking about- and got the brightest foods I could find. *

Sweet potatoes
Beets
Emerald Kale
Yellow squash
Cube all veggies and sauté covered over medium heat in order of hardness. (Sweet potatoes first) Season with Turmeric, sea salt, curry powder, maybe some cinnamon. I topped with some @kitehillfoods plain cream cheese spread for a lil’ extra creaminess and @lairdsuperfood turmeric powder for some more flava. *

Soooo at the point in my life I can definitively admit that I am addicted to sweet Japanese yams, but hey what’s new🤓 this salad has homegrown kale, cucumbers, green peppers, tomatoes, green beans and some radishes and nectarines. I topped it with hummus and have some dilly beans (another weird addiction ik🤔) and yam fries !! ~~TOP TIP FOR CRISPY NO OIL FRIES: boil/steam your potatoes/yams until they are cooked through, then throw them in the fridge for a few hours until they are cold and then broil them in the oven in parchment paper for 5-10 mins. It makes them crispy on the outside and soft on the inside🤤

The balance struggle is REAL when it comes to caring for two kiddos in cribs, work and self-love so getting super efficient is a must. I do this through daily meditation (🤱🏻 or pumping actually makes it easier since you’re forced to sit!), big batch cooking for the fam and keeping clean options handy when I’m on the go. Loving @liveowyn plant-based protein drink post workout with super clean ingredients so I don’t have to worry..cold brew is my fave flavor, shocker 😋☕️💪

One of my favorite super sets for building my back. Notice how on the row when it got too heavy for me I stood upright more to shorten my range of motion. It’s not a full rep but I feel like it’s super important to get the most of your set instead of just dropping the weight and waiting for the next set. Right after I hopped into some dumbbell deadlifts and really tried to active the lower back strictly, had me sweating like crazy. Super sets and drop sets are slept on! Get the most out of your work outs and make them fun and interesting. In case You haven’t noticed a lot of my workouts are @athleanx inspired. I highly recommend his content to anybody!

Anyone else get through most of the day and realize, I haven’t had any fruit yet! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Weekends are particularly challenging for me. For today’s #dietitianhq IG challenge by @dietitianhq I’m here to challenge you (and myself!) to eat at least 2 servings of #fruit each day for the rest of the week without drinking juice because #fiber. 1 serving of fruit is equal to one medium sized whole fruit, 1 cup of cut up fruit, or 1/2 cup of dried fruit. Fruit is a great source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients. Some are also great for hydration because of their 💦 content. Plus summer has such great fresh fruit available at the #farmersmarket like these delicious #peaches. And avocados and tomatoes count!!
