Strangely OK session after feeling unwell yesterday.

One of 3 dodgy singles on high bar squat was at 147.5kg, like last week. RPE 10 this time though!

Then came close grip bench. 3x2 @ 92.5kg > 95kg x 2. Good speed, but not quite good enough to try 97.5kg.

Finally a change up of reps on Bent Over Rows allowed me to go heavier. 82.5kg for sets of 6.

There was overhead press in there somewhere, but it wasn't very exciting.

Day 14 of #theprep (c1w4d2)

Huge confidence builder for me today, as I managed to hit this top set of 209kg for 5 reps.
The three back-off sets with 198kg were hard and my form on the last set was horrible. But I am stupid and will always take the maximum weight allowed.

Bench went well, @powerzopf giving very nice 3ct commands 😍 97kg for a 3*3 on that one.

🔑Jefferson Curls 🔑

👉🏾Before you begin attempting Jefferson Curls, it is imperative to note that this exercise is to be done with light weights (start with no weight at all) and absolutely pain-free.
.
👉🏾Performed by weightlifters and powerlifters who used it to loosen up their backs after training. With their lower backs stuck in hyperextension from all the squatting and deadlifting, they used the Jefferson Curl at light weights in order to balance out their spines.
.
👉🏾Start by standing on a stable, elevated surface such as a box, bench, or thick set of mats. With a barbell, dumbbell, kettlebell, or other weight in your hands, stand up tall with your legs straight and perfectly together. Begin the movement by tucking your chin into your chest, then slowly flexing your spine (rounding your back) one vertebrae at a time as you feel the weight “pull” you lower towards the floor. Continue lowering, being sure to keep the weight balanced on the ball of your foot so that you do not lean back.

👉🏾Towards the bottom of the movement, your entire spine should have one uniform curve to it.

‼️New Goals‼️

Now that the comp is over, now what? Well, it’s safe to say that this past weekend was fun as hell, so I’m definitely competing again in the future. However, I’m going to take a bit of time to get strong af and cut a weight class before that happens. As soon as I decided to go up a weight class (so as not to have to worry about weight for this past meet), it was ben and jerrys and pizza every night. Lol- I kinda regret that now. I’m currently sitting around 155 lbs. bw and would be much more comfortable about 10-15 pounds lighter. I don’t want to rush the weight loss though because I don’t want my strength to plummet, and I also don’t want to starve. Time to put in work!

I often have to coach my self to stop making up stories in my head about what’s true, what’s possible, and what matters.
Intellectually I know the mind is powerful, but in my human experience the dialogue and conflict between the big and small parts of me is constant and very real.
Sometimes I win those internal debates and sometimes I lose.
I look at my strong idols and think - how could I ever hope to get even close to that?
And then I remind myself - stop hoping, and fucking go after it.
ANYthing is possible, and all we have is time. So 🛑 stop assuming you’re not as capable, 🛑 stop telling yourself stories about why something can’t be or why you can’t change or how you’re deficient in some way, and 🛑 stop worrying about how you look to other people, because nobody’s watching you anyways. 👀
Instead, redirect that mental energy into imagining what winning at the next level feels like, visualizing how you’ll crush that PR, and put in the work that you know creates success. Be open minded that the best case scenario is just as possible as the worst, and that you just might surprise yourself.
Coaching that mental flexibility is probably THE most critical element for me ☑️
So I’m gonna take a nap now, and then I’m gonna go to the gym, and doubt my limits HARD 💪💎

Half way through the first week of my new program, finally managed to write it all out so I know exactly what I’m doing on each day. Today was legs, wasn’t feeling great after doing heavy deadlifts yesterday. Top set was 120kg for 2 reps. Currently in a slight calorie deficit gonna carry this on for a few more weeks and see where I get.
