Teamwork is the key to success in any healthcare environment!
Notice how everyone in the picture has a purpose. They are all working together to keep this patient alive.
Developing teamwork overnight is not an easy task.
1. It requires offering help even when the help was never offered to YOU. When you give help to others, it becomes infectious and all of a sudden everyone is helping each other.
2. It is important to recognize those employees in public in front of others so that the team is aware of help that is being provided. It creates a social "conscious" that everyone is helping each other.
3. As a leader, no task is too small or "below your scope of practice." It is an avalanche effect when employees see their manager or leader get deep in the problem with them. There's nothing less effective than being a "clipboard" manager that walks around patrolling but never lifts a finger.
4. Saying "Thank You." Saying it in all occasions shows appreciation for the help you just received. Whether it's their job to do so already or not, hearing those words is respectful and comforting to know you are valued as a person.
The pictures that follow are a part of our communication board which include recognition of employees by employees. Every beginning of shift we thank others for what they do and the impact they have on the team dynamic.
Pausing in gratitude after being recognized, this morning, for becoming part of an elite, “core leadership” team in our company.
Two months ago, we accepted a life changing opportunity to align with some very special mentors. In order to grow to that next level, it’s important to lock arms with those who’ve gone before you.
Each step of success is meant to be celebrated. Some grab a beer. I’ll take an Organic, Gluten Free, Banana Blueberry Walnut Muffin at my favorite coffee shop!
