why are so many christians so keen to shove their religion down our throats? as an ex member of the church, ew, please stop. please keep your religion to yourself. and don't "pray" for me. facts =/= satan, and fantasising about people who disagree with you burning in hell is not normal. if I can keep my religion out of your face, you can keep yours out of mine. literally idc what religion [if any] you identify with, but don't shove it down my throat please and thanks:) you do you, i do me

‘Nevertheless, she persisted.’ Words you would expect to be said with pride and not irritation. In 2017, Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s objections were silenced. She persisted. Afterward, a colleague said those words in attempt to blame Warren, instead these words were embraced by feminists who applied it to women throughout history who persist inequality and injustice.
Recently @taylorswift posted an eloquent letter stating her stance. If you know me, you’ll be well aware of my own stances. But maybe we are new to each other. So, hello 👋🏻 Let’s get into this.
When I think of women I associate with ‘nevertheless, she persisted’ I think of the activists involved in #repealthe8th, the activists fighting for marriage equality in Northern Ireland and LGBTQ+ issues globally, calling out bigotry and bias and demanding better. Demanding control over our own bodies, the right to education, the right to love who we love and declare that love in legal union, the right to vote, the right to be in the room, to make our own decisions without the restrictions placed on us by those who are being bought by corporations or are standing in the way of the will of the people.
I believe in the identities and love stories of the LGBTQ+ community. I believe in democracy and progressive values. I believe that my generation will be socially and politically aware enough to research who they vote for and make an educated choice.
This week Taylor has inspired over 300k people to register to vote in the midterm elections. I enthusiastically encourage you to register to vote, and use that vote with immense pride because it was not always our right to do so.
Whatever your beliefs, whether they align with my own or not, talk to your friends/family/neighbours/online acquaintances. Speak out about your beliefs and values. Let your beautiful voice be heard. Change hearts and minds. Be the change you want to see. Don’t let anyone tell you that your voice or vote doesn’t count. If every voice was raised, every vote used we’d be unstoppable.
Peace and love. Remember that every time someone steps up to says who they are, the world becomes a better, more interesting place. ♥️🗳🏳️‍🌈

An intense forum for emotion & physicality, WRoNGHEADED emerged amidst the call to repeal the 8th but ultimately offers a refuge from the debate & a space to consider the issues from a new perspective.

In WRoNGHEADED, Liz Roche brings together the fearless spoken word poetry of Elaine Feeney, the exquisite work of film director Mary Wycherley, composer Ray Harman and lighting designer Stephen Dodd with electrifying performances by dancers Sarah Cerneaux, Justine Cooper, Jack Webb and Kévin Coquelard.
All these elements are gathered together to create an intense forum for emotion and physicality but ultimately, WRoNGHEADED reflects a new reality for the women of Ireland as there is hope for enormous change in the country, and beyond, as this nationwide solidarity gives hope to other countries too. But the battle for this new legislation has only just begun!

On 23 October, MPs will vote on a bill to decriminalise consensual abortion up to 24 weeks, in England, Wales and - crucially - Northern Ireland.
Please tell your MP to vote so that Northern Irish women like Emma can make choices in pregnancy. #nowforNI LINK IN BIO

Feeling a bit nostalgic this evening for various reasons, came across this film album (Kodak 400b&w) from the Abortion Rights Campaign. They always have the best doggos, rivalled only by the anti water tax demos perhaps. #35mmfilm #arc #repealthe8th

"Liz Roche has produced a show that deals with hard-hitting subject matter through the arts, which is an effective way to open up and continue the debate about these important issues. The visual and aural storytelling in this show is impactful and resonates with people in different ways, allowing each person to step back, reflect and consider what was the past, is the present and may be the future." ☆☆☆☆ "Sarah Cerneaux and Justine Cooper are sublime dancers.“ @thelistuk ———————
We are thrilled to present our critically acclaimed and powerful dance show WRoNGHEADED, at @civictheatretallaght next week. Following the success of the full length version of WRoNGHEADED at @dublindancefestival in May, Liz Roche Company as Company in Residence at the Civic will present the piece at the Civic Theatre Tallaght for two nights only, October 19th and 20th 2018.
————————
In Wrongheaded, Liz Roche brings together the fearless spoken word poetry of Elaine Feeney, the exquisite work of film director Mary Wycherley, composer Ray Harman and lighting designer Stephen Dodd with electrifying performances by dancers Sarah Cerneaux, Justine Cooper, Jack Webb and Kevin Coquelard. All are gathered together in this intense mix of emotions and physicality to highlight the desperation and frustration that many Irish women feel when it comes to the choices available to them regarding their bodies.
————————
The project was originally born out of the sadness and anger felt on hearing the news and circumstances of the tragic death of Galway based woman, Savita Halappanavar. It is also in response to Ireland’s recent referendum to Repeal the Eighth, where the country made history on May 25 this year to finally amend its constitution on women’s rights.
As part of our Active Audience initiative, filmmaker Luca Truffarelli and choreographer Liz Roche have created a special installation piece at County Library, Tallaght that captures responses to the issues WRoNGHEADED raises. The installation will be open on Friday 19th Oct between 6pm and 7.30pm – prior to the WRoNGHEADED performance at Civic at 8pm – and again on Saturday 20th October between 12pm and 3pm when our Active Audience group will perform as part of a special performance element within the installation.

On #mentalhealthawarenessday I dedicate this post to the formidable @oneilllou
Thank you @oneilllou for being such a wonderful Irish citizen and helping to shape our country for the better. Thank you for your creativity and for always speaking your mind without fear of retaliation. I watched Asking for It in the Everyman Theatre with my sister and when it finished I was genuinely floored by it- absolutely speechless and in awe of it's powerful depiction of your all too relatable "story"! Thank you for being a wonderful feminist, supporting all those who identify as female and for being such an outspoken pro-choice and mental health advocate. Thank you for being one of the main positive voices of my generation. You inspire me all the time!
