It's Tuesday! Do you know what that means? Transformation time!! Ok, real quick - the photo on the left was taken this time last year - just a week or so shy of my birthday! So the only noticeable transformation I've made within 12 months(or at least the one that we will discuss in this post) is the new #tattoo on my right arm.
Basically, I got some new #ink directly on top of the old ink I got when I was 23 years-old. I've played with the option of touching up the old tat. Ya know, bring it back to life with a few new designs - hoping that my 17 year-old tattoo would look fresh and ready for my upcoming nuptials. But then my fiance and I thought, why not just get a new one? I mean, I am different woman now. I'm sure as hell not the same person I was at 23, thank God for that. But then I considered, was I trying to cover up my past or erase the person that I once was by covering up the old ink?
It made me very confused.
Fortunately my dear old friend/tattoo artist/brother @noskachickatello, who knew the old me, agreed that I SHOULD IN FACT GET A NEW TAT, and be stoked about it! What are your thoughts on this? Does a second or third opinion from a longtime friend that you trust and adore help make an undecided decision complete? It does for me, and sometimes we need to be backed by a team when making a transformation such as this.
Here's the deal, guys. We shouldn't make apologies for change. We should be excited for change! We're allowed to explore different avenues of life! We are beyond capable of evolving into how we want to be! The best way to find our best selves is thru trial and error - on many roads as possible.
And if you just so happen to be in the greater Austin,TX area, please hit up my brother @noskachickatello over @southsidetattooatx. He's an ink genius!
