A slow evening walk around lake Annency.
Winter has just left and a lingering chill creeps into the air as the sun sets. The alpine lake is lined by barren ghost-like trees, and you can almost sense the tension before the vibrant promise of spring. While the seasons stir, people appear to be in a state of lull, ambling past the scenery, blissful and content with being lost in their own spaces. The sun's constantly out to hide and seek, colouring the landscape as if with moods, decidedly bipolar. Some people entertain themselves flat paddling on the water, while others like me cycle up past little picturesque villages into the stunning backdrop- the French Alps.
Annecy is apparently best travelled to between May and October though when the summer sets in and the lake is at it's clearest green, you can see all the way deep down to it's light coloured sandbed. With waters just warm enough, the lake and surrounding landscapes come alive - Sailboats, water-skis, and kayaks crisscross the water, swimming is in season again and the surrounding nature trails are hit by bikes and hikes.
The promise of summer sounds warm and dreamy, but I guess I can't complain at all about catching her in a slumber- differently enticing and a touch more mysterious.
