Day 2 of this journey. The thing I do not like about this hybrid is that it doesnt tell me exactly what day to do-- just the time. But I do like how I can be flexible and have some options. Today was back to heavy lifting. I still got my strength going and I'm excited that these programs work so well together. I'm feeling great right now. Let's hope this continues throughout the whole week.
There is still time to join our 12 days of fitmas. Yesterday was a 60 second jog in place. I had my daughter join me while we jogged to some Christmas music and our Amazon Echo was a perfect timer. I'm excited to see what today brings. So much fun around the holiday season.

Any move that creates a deeper stretch for me is a favorite of mine.
Stretching out and working that hamstring, quad, and getting more mobility in my hips.
This is at 30lbs, 3 sets of 12, holding at a 90° for more building, holding “however far you can go°” for more of a stretch.

Heute mal wieder nicht gut aus dem Bett gekommen. Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl, dieses Bett hält mich irgendwie fest, ich klebe förmlich morgens dran. Schlimm!

The most common fault in the deadlift is the rounding of the upper back.

To fix this, make sure you set up with active shoulders. You should feel tension in your chest, shoulders, and arms in the initial setup. Once you have active shoulders, pull your scapula back and create pressure in your abdomen to create midline stability. Hope this helps!

However, spending a few hours gardening can often result in back pain either later that day or during the next. This can happen whether you have a history of low back pain or not.

This is the scene of a... successful #dryneedling? Had my follow up appointment with the DO and she looked at both my #tenosynovitis and #shinsplints with the ultrasound. Original foot problem showed less fluid-yay! Shin showed a tear, I could see the little blip that she was talking about, right over the area of most pain. She #dryneedled both calves and a bit on the shin while looking at the ultrasound, and pronounced my muscles “literally dancing.” Uh yeah, I could feel it 😬😂 She said I already had a big improvement in the range of motion of my foot, but I’ll have to take her word for it because OUCH. Afterwards I literally, and comically if you know that my pain is temporary and self imposed, hobbled to my regular #physicaltherapy appointment. After some massaging and #foamrolling I eked out a few exercises, though maybe you can see from my boomerang how small my range of calf motion is 🤦‍♀️ I feel like the human version of Speed- as long as I keep moving I’m fine! #marathontraining #offday #stretchitout #iliketomoveitmoveit

We skip movement development and specialize too early. We are great at sitting still for 8 hours a day, but we can’t keep our minds still for 8 seconds. We ignore the call to move our bodies in order to answer our text messages and e-mails. Allow yourself to be more human. Move more. Specialize only when movement makes sense to you.

They sung Happy Birthday to me and made me blush...so they got single foot in strap instead of feet in straps! Such a mean little exercise this one! As anybody who has taken one of my classes knows, I absolutely love unilateral (single side) work! I love finding the imbalances in the body and seeing where we need to improve. Everyone is usually surprised that the leg that isn’t in the strap hurts the most here! The hip flexor has to support the unstrapped leg instead of getting support from the strap and springs. The whole leg has to support its own weight and becomes fatigued quickly. In this one, trying to keep both legs moving at the same speed and in the same position is one of the hardest, when we go to circles, it’s even harder. This is a real challenge to proprioception (knowing where we are in space). Also, going into short spine with such a light spring and only one leg strapped is a massive challenge and some people find that they can really struggle with it when they are generally rocking the other one! This is a great way to show where we need to focus on and what areas are a little weaker on what side. Of course, we always end the mean ones with a biiiiiiiig stretch! So they got a hip flexor stretch with their foot strapped and leg hanging down off the bed and then we also did standing hip stretch to really open them up!
