I have memories of my twins playing with LEGOs as toddlers, building their own towers and cities on the floor. I also remember what happened when there weren’t enough blocks left to complete both of their projects, or when one child’s structure was in the way of what the other was trying to create. •
It started out simply enough with a request to move an item, or share a resource. But they both believed so powerfully in their visions that neither was willing to budge. War would break out leading to the destruction of one tower so the other could remain. •
Some of us are still tearing down our neighbor’s towers to build our own.
When we create the vision for our lives, even if it’s in service to humanity, we don’t always take into account how to handle encounters with others who end up in our paths with different visions (different faiths, sexual orientations, countries of origin, as well as cultures). In our ambition, we sometimes forget to DO NO HARM, and we knock them out of our way to keep building what we want to see. •
Coexistence is tricky that way. I’m not suggesting that I have the answers. I am committed, however, to stand with you, those of us who are looking to co-create and not bulldoze. Who are taking it one step at a time, one neighbor at a time, while we figure out how to create the things we most want to see without trashing everything that conflicts with it. It’s a delicate process, but if you’re trying, stay committed to KEEP trying.
