Guru Purnima ~
I believe that your life, in its entirety is one big lesson. Through life, the teachers keep changing. The people who inspire you are definitely a form of knowledge in your life.
My current teacher/inspiration is @kingjames. If you don't know much about him, I highly recommend you read up/watch content on the man. He's currently in his FIFTEENTH year of playing top level basketball and he's still the best in the world. He's definitely in the "Greatest of all time" conversations as well.
Started off as the only child to a single mother from a ghetto.
He's risen to become one of the GREATEST athletes that the world has ever witnessed.
Here are my 4 top learnings from the man :- 1.TEAM FIRST - if the team is good, get the very best out of them. Jordan built his career by scoring baskets and winning games single handedly. LeBron built it by RAISING the game of his teammates.
If his teams weren't up to the mark, he'd step up his own game and become both the sword and shield of his team.
2.KEEP IMPROVING - Doesn't matter if you're the best player in the world or the best player of all time - At every stage of your career, constantly improve yourself in SOME aspect. Challenge yourself because growth ONLY happens outside your comfort zone.
If the whole NBA starts becoming deadly with their long range shots, LeBron will work on that skill till he's one of the best in the league. Even this late in his career!
3.FAMILY BALANCE - Greatest of all time? That's cool. But SHOWING UP to your kid's basketball games, being loyal to the queen of your life and building an empire for your mother are AS IMPORTANT. In a world where athletes spend their nights partying, LeBron goes back to his family on weekends.
4. RESPONSIBILITY - Made your millions? Buy cars and mansions? Nah, LeBron would rather spend his bucks on CHANGING LIVES. As much as he's known for his performances on the court, he's also known for his social work off it. He lived through unfortunate circumstances. Now he's making sure that kids like him can have access to better, cleaner lives. THATS what true champions are made of.
