Tom Cruise is the epitome of a movie star. Arguably one of the best actors of our generation.
Tom Cruise is globally recognised and with that comes scrutiny into his life. There are countless stories surrounding his marriages, his children, his beliefs within scientology, his couch jumping shenanigans... but i could care less about any of that!
To me, Cruise is everything i love about Hollywood. The blockbusters. The characters. The red carpets.
He isnt one of these actors who branch out and do this sponsorship, or that brand endorsment. He loves acting. He has made it clear in numerous interviews that acting is his passion, what he was born to do, and i think you can see it in every film he has done.
He is quoted as saying "I’ve never done work for money ever. If your choices are based on grosses and the film doesn’t do well, what does that mean? It leaves you with nothing." What he is saying is he chooses his roles based on how passionate he feels about the project, not the paycheck.
He obviously has a great sense of material because regardless of if he takes a role for money or not, the films he has done have raked in hundreds of millions of dollars and he doesnt appear to be slowing down any time soon. "The thing about film making is i give it my everything, that's why i work so hard. I love what i do. I take great pride in what i do, and i cant do something halfway, three quarters, nine-tenths. If im going to do something, i go all the way"
It is this attitude to his craft that has me hooked. To know he performs all his own stunts. He immerses himself fully into every role. He is passionate about what he is doing.
These days i think this passion is somewhat lost in Hollywood. Almost anyone with a decent instagram following thinks they can star in a movie.
Stars like Cruise dont come along often.
His skill goes unrivaled. Im always looking forward to what ever he has premiering next.
He has blazed a trail within Hollywood, and will go down as a screen legend just like all the greats that went before him.
