WHO COULD HAVE KNOWN?!
But seriously- who the heck could have guessed that THIS gal up here 👆🏻 YEAH, me- would have ever found herself livin it up over here on the west coast? 🤷🏻♀️
NOT ME 🙋🏻♀️
I was born (& mostly raised) on New England’s coastline, from a SUPER small town in Massachusetts- like the kind of small where everyone knows everyone; sort of like Bakersfield (but even smaller if you can imagine that).
Not many people ever leave the town I’m from- again a LOT like Bako. So when my family moved us all over the country (& even out of it), we were considered “outsiders”.
I never made close relationships, and from that I developed a strong back bone combined with an even stronger sense of independence.
When my family made their final move to Florida (in 2006, the summer before I started high school), I was a TOTAL introvert.
I had a real FEAR of ever getting to know anyone, because it seemed every time I had before- we moved.
As much as I LOVE traveling, I didn’t “love” starting over again and again. I didn’t “love” that the only roots I knew; were on the road. That was; until I got older and learned to embrace my path. Traveling forced me to adapt to change, to expect the unexpected & to appreciate culture.
It made me WHO I am today.
I may not have had a “conventual/ traditional or “normal” upbringing (as in most kids don’t attend over 7 different schools before age 15/ or travel to 35/50 US States & see most of Europe before age of 12). But hey, I couldn’t have wished for a better childhood!
My life experience is how I developed my NAME “Vintage Roots”.
“Vintage”, because I come from a long line of nomadic ancestors & traveling is literally IN my blood.
Then “Roots” because this is our journey, my past & my sons future.
We may NOT have it all “figured out”; but TOGETHER we have it ALL.
