Cardio vs weights; which do you prefer?

There are a lot of benefits to both. Cardio can be cathartic and is great for your heart!
Weight training will help strengthen your bones and can help with posture and will burn calories even after your workout. •

Especially since I work a desk job and spend most of the time on my bum, I try my hardest to incorporate some form of cardio every day and weight training about 5-6 times a week! •

Total leg workouttt🤩 I know glute focused days are the best but sometimes you gotta hit quads and calves lmao😹 .
.
1️⃣single leg push downs on the assisted pull up machine
2️⃣leg extension with toes pointing outwards to target outer quads and then point them inwards to target inner thighs (with pulses at the top of movement)
3️⃣hip thrusts on leg extension machine, as heavy as you can
4️⃣sumo squats into RDLs
5️⃣calf raises
6️⃣hamstring single leg deadlifts
7️⃣jump squats (favorite finisher😻)

Core work 🙄 Because my abs are so weak- I default on my back to stabilize. So doing exercises either upright where I can focus on keeping my pelvis tucked (1st exercise) or floor exercises where I can stay curled in the movement (2nd exercise) works best for me.
In the first exercise I am squeezing my glutes and rotating through my abs. No rocking in your hips or arching back. Second- im squeezing my lower abs to crunch up. *trying* not to lead with my head.

Of course diet has a the biggest effect when it comes to revealing your abs but training them with weights is what’s going to help shape these bad boys.

🔹Overhead crunches ➡️Stand slightly wider than shoulder width, DB held overhead, allow for a small bend in elbow. 🔹Reach towards opposite knee in a crunching motion. Hips should stay square ▪️
🔹Rep range “hypertrophy” 3x15 ➖

Are you guys ready for this 5 minute full body fat blasting circuit!!??💦 No equipment is needed☺️ so you can do this absolutely anywhere your heart desires!🌿

Complete each movement for 40 seconds & rest for 15-20 seconds IN BETWEEN each move. Then rest for 2 minutes and repeat! (If you don’t wanna rest between the moves, all the power to ya sista!! Just keep in mind the goal here is to give it your all, 100% effort and intensity during each movement)

Honesty hour - I used to HATE training upper body.

I felt weak because I couldn’t lift heavy weights, I often struggled to actually feel my muscles working during the exercises, & I honestly just did not enjoy it, which made me either dread my workouts or put them off until the last possible moment.

That is… until I started circuit training!

I realized I could actually make MORE progress while lifting less weights.

Circuits allow me to use a lot more of my upper body strength to do bodyweight exercises which make me feel SO dang strong.

I think it’s so badass to be able to do functional movements like pull-ups & push-ups using your own bodyweight rather than being able to curl 50 lb DBs (lolol)

Raise your hand if you feel me! 🙋🏽‍♀️. & to be honest, you could be able to lift super heavy but if you’re not consistently practicing those bodyweight exercises, they’re going to be a struggle for you!

When I was lifting heavy weights, I struggled to do 10 push-ups.

Now? I can do dang near 50… which is way more of an accomplishment in my opinion!

@joyfulsoulwellness taught at @rocksolidchicago for over a year before we actually started to work together on anything. Up until 4 months ago, I knew she was an amazing yoga instructor whom all my clients absolutely loved.
She came to me several months ago wanting to add on more than yoga to her routine. She wanted strength - but it was new - she has old injuries. By combining personal training with @theinfinitemvmt and group training with me it’s safe to say she is on a whole new level ( #rkc in training @nasm_fitness CPT soon to be). 🔻Timing is everything- for everyone. 🔹We work really well together. Workouts with my baby boy! Can’t find the words to explain this but trying to enjoy time with my baby boy as much as I can. These exercises are fun and plus it’s a bonding time between my and him. Especially with 2 other siblings want to take the limelight most of the time. Anyways workouts are workouts and whenever I get the chance I take it and run with it. Considering how I have not been able to workout the past 3 1/2 weeks including fasting for my religion. However you have to make the time no matter the circumstances. No excuses because it’s your mind vs. YOU. Take the time out of your day: go for a walk, or maybe take the kids out and do some activities. Some sort of activity will get your blood pumping and have your heart racing to speed the process of any burning calories. Let’s get to it and remember it is tough but if you put your mind to it then it will all the difference.. let’s start this journey from bottom and build it to the very top. Like we’re climbing Mt. Everest.
