How do you create a safe space in your AcroYoga practice and partnerships?
I feel safe when I feel seen, heard, when there is no rush to achieve anything, but a warm encouragement to try again if I’m excited, or to the opportunity to say no and come back to it later if I am feeling frustrated. Most of my AcroYoga path has been as a flyer and I relied greatly on this sense of safety from my bases. In recent years, I have been stepping in mostly as a base... and now I get to create that safe space for my flyers to trust me and explore more and more challenging poses and moves. I love taking breaks and allowing space to just “hang out”, take a deep breath together and check in to see how my flyer is feeling and if she wants to try the same thing again or move on to something new. During these times and spaces I feel our connection deepen and our hearts expand with the joy of this practice. This is when I really feel the Yoga of AcroYoga. .
