“I have a confession: I haven’t made the PB Protein Cookies from the second cookbook until today ‼️🙈 They are AMAZING. Easy to make, fluffier than I imagined they could be, and OMG SO DELICIOUS. I’m obsessed. .

Why haven’t I made them until today? Because I’ve had a pretty unhealthy relationship with food for the last year or so. Seriously. It hasn’t been overly healthy for a long time in my life, but it has been really bad. I did okay with it when I was counting calories. Then people started talking about tracking macros and I thought I wanted to do that (it didn’t even last a day 😂). Then I started Weight Watchers and this program that is supposed to be so flexible was totally oppressive for me. I “couldn’t have” sweets, carbs, etc. because they were all high in points. I started the program because I wanted to be incentivized to eat more fruits and veggies but all I did was obsess about not being able to have as many sweets and carbs as I had eaten while calorie counting. .

So here I am, trying to repair my relationship with food. To make choices that are nourishing for my body and my soul, but for the right reasons. To be mindful about my choices and my actions. I’m going to go back to incorporating my favorite recipes (many of them are Fit Girls recipes) and be mindful about adding fruits and veggies as snacks. I’m going to make these cookies and the doughettes and really enjoy them. I’m going to get back to a place where foods aren’t taboo and I’m not overly restricting myself. I may or may not count calories again. I won’t do points and I just don’t have the yearn to do macros. I want to approach food with ease (look! My intention for the year!) ❤️” - @balancing.amanda

“I started this journey 11 months ago using the #28dayjumpstart from the @fitgirlsguide and I could not be more happy with how far I’ve come. Physically and mentally. This has taught me so many lessons but above all I learned self discipline. I set forth goals and I put the work into get there, I’ve also been able to shift that into other aspects of my life as well and it’s felt really amazing. I also just love fitting into all my old clothes. My coworker keeps asking me if this or that is new but I have to laugh and say “no it’s really old” 😂 I need to get some boxes down from the attic because I kept all my old clothes and I’m really glad I did because I’m way too broke to buy ALL new clothes 😬 Something else I’ve gained from this has been an appreciation of taking your time. I know everyone wants to change over night but you would miss a lot of lessons and powerful moments if you didn’t live through the experience. It’s almost been a year and I look back and remember all the victories along the way and all the support from family and friend and all the growth. I never would have set foot in a power lifting class at 267 but now I go in there a put the work in. Even when I look like a fool because of my lack of coordination at times 😂 All of this to say is don’t underestimate the power of the time it takes and what it allows you to do for yourself. All my love to my fitbabes and #myadventurebegins babes. Let’s rock this.” - @fitgirljen18
