Is this real?
February 21, 2018 (around 9pm est)
My fiance and I are in the car looking to get something to eat now that we finally have a moment to relax. As I look out into the cold rainy night, I hear my obnoxious ringtone. I reach into my oversized coat pocket and look at the caller ID. "It's dad" I say aloud. I swiped to answer my phone casually and said "Hello dad, how's mom, how did the tests turn out?" Immediately I hear a soft, hoarse voice. Now I'm really worried I tell myself. My father on the other end sounding distressed, breaks the news to me and my fiance. "Mom has pancreatic cancer" He hoarsely announces. (CRASH!) Or at least that's what I wish had happened at that very moment. Quietly and eerily I reply "W-w-what?" My father says my name, trying to keep his composure and tells me not to make him repeat himself.
In that moment I am screaming and crying. (I hand the phone to my fiance to finish talking). With tears rushing down my face and blurry vision, I stare blankly foward. I would like to share a life changing event.
On Febuary 21, 2018 (a little after noon), I was headed to my parents house to help them like I had been doing a lot recently. Specifically what I was helping them with was getting a list to buy groceries. I came up to the door and saw my parents happy little dog, Mimi, wagging her little tail as fast as she possibly could. As I entered the door, I saw my father standing in front of me smiling like his usual self, at least whenever he sees his daughter. My mother was in the room just right as you entered through the front. She had been not feeling well recently. Her back had been bothering her, she'd been nauseous, she hadn't been eating much, her legs were weak, and all these other symptoms that come with aging. As i looked at her with the sun beaming in through the window, I noticed her skin was tinted yellow. I picked up the list and asked her why her skin looked different than usual. My mother mentioned that she had noticed it Sunday but thought it was just the sun light making her skin look yellow. After a long talk and discussion with my father and mother. We decided it was best for her to go to the emergency room. I called my fiance, who rushed over to my parents house from work. We dropped my parents at the hospital and rushed home to take care of Stella (the little pom). We then proceeded to head to the grocery store to pick up the list of items needed. After the grocery store we headed back to my parents house to put the groceries in the house and to take care of my parents four dogs, who by the way, I felt may pee their pants at any moment(if they were wearing any). Ironically, one of them did pee, but out of excitement to see us more than anything else. After putting my parents groceries away, we went to buy my father something to eat (he hadn't eaten in a long time). After grabbing him some dairy queen(dad loves dairy queen), we decided to head back over to the hospital to see if mom had finally been admitted. Luckily she had, it only took four hours to boot. My mother was getting tests done as we entered. #story#mother#love#tests#hope#emotions Next post (No space to write) 11pm EST.
