I can’t press up into handstand. No surprise here. I neither pursue nor practice it 🤷🏻‍♀️. I might start, though after this challenge. Getting these vids was so much fun 😝.

For Day 4 of #shapeshifter we ask you to show us how you like to train your press up into handstand 🤸🏻‍♀️.

🎬SLIDE 1 shows how you can use a bolster for cushion
🎬SLIDE 2. If you don’t have a bolster use two mats and roll them together. If you don’t have two mats use a huge pillow (couch) or mattress or anything big and soft but solid.
🎬SLIDE 3 shows you some fun block stuff.
🎬SLIDE 4 shows you the use of the #FeetUpTrainer. If you don’t have one (well, you can win one here) can use two stable chairs or Ottomans or even blocks.

It’s Day 3 of #shapeshifter and today is all about getting in and getting out of a handstand. Show us your favourite entries & exits.

Only recently I started to work on tuck jump into handstand but that is for sure SO NOT MY FAVOURITE way of getting into it 😂. But on some days I get it. It's so awesome and I’m shocked and surprised and kinda sort of stoked about it 🤩.

For today kicking up it is ... and cartwheeling out or getting out the way I got into it. My intention is always to use as less momentum as possible and NOT to cartwheel out. You can see that it's always the same side I fall out. This is overworking my left shoulder joint and this is what I need to avoid. The longer I practice the more momentum I need because of lack of strength.

Two years ago I started to use my less dominant side to kick up first. It felt like I’ve never kicked up before. When I found a nano second of hang time I switched to my dominant side. After finding some hang time here I switched back to my less dominant side. Do you work your other side? Do it and don't give up 💪🏼

Most of the days I find a good handstand when using the other side. It’s more stable and I don’t over kick it. It's just not as pretty 🤪

I warned you: I am the baby handstander here 🤣 My handstands are far from perfect but I really like to practice them on a daily basis. Just to get on my hands. Just to feel the float, the heart over head sensation and of course the growing strength. But besides that: committing to a regular practice teaches you a lot about yourself (guess that goes for every practice). Imho that's the biggest reward in this 🤩

For day 2 of #shapeshifter we ask you to show us which exercises help you to gain/keep a straight line 📏

My handstands are not consistent and in days I can't get it at all I practice these two exercises.
⠀
Part 1: Kick up the wall with fingertips TOUCHING the wall.
I know, everyone says you shouldn’t kick up with the back against the wall but this is quite informative. I remember the day when I tried it for the first time ever. I couldn’t even get my bum up. Not to mention hold a handstand at the wall.
▶️With this exercise you learn NOT to throw your legs too far behind you.

Part 2: Walk up the wall or Chest to Wall Medicine
I truly love this. If you haven’t done it before please ask a friend, your hubby, your wife to spot you. The closer you get to the wall the scarier it can get. You might get up but make sure you can get out safely. Save 20% of your energy for the exit!
▶️This exercise will give you the sensation of the hollow body.

Today’s pose is such a pose. I saw it with @laurasykora and @yogaandchaigirl some time ago but I didn’t even save it knowing that my funky hip won’t be able to open enough … one way or another. But - blame my ego - I tried and thought if nothing works I’ll go for a variation.

Today is the day I celebrate. I celebrate the change in my ROM of my left hip joint. YAY. Thank you girls for making me try #youneverknowifyounevertry ☀️

It's day 1 of #shapeshifter and I show you my favourite Wrist, Shoulder and Arm Warm Ups. I kept the sequences super short due to the 1min-limit of IG videos. I recommend doing every single one for at least 20-30 breaths. The last one even longer🤗

Part 1: Measure yourself
* Make sure your wrists, elbows, shoulders are perpendicular
* Trust the blocks 😉
⠀
Part 2: Flip your hands 180° (middle finger points towards the knees)
* Cat'n Cow, stir it up. Explore your options. Go slower/faster
* Roll up your mat and elevate the heel of your hands if it's too much
⠀
Part 3: Trust the measure
* Use blocks to keep your hands shoulder width distance
⠀
Part 4: Use your body
* Place your (flipped) hands beside your hip bones, your forearm touch the outer hip
* Middle finger points back
* Lean forward to ease it. Get up for intensity. It's totally up to you how far you go.
* Hands stay flat on the mat
⠀
Part 5 Pump it
* Interlace your fingers, the pinky fingers touch the outer edge of the hands.
* Thumbs point towards the knees
* Pump it, rotate it, go faster/slower
* Turn your hands
* Thumbs touch the mat
* Pump it
* Get up to Down Dog
⠀
Part 6 Shoulders
* Place 4 small blocks (or 2 big blocks) in the middle of your mat
* Get into Down Dog and cross your legs
* Measure the distance: the tip of your nose barely touches the edge of the blocks
* Move through a plank into an UpDog and back to DownDog. Imagine yourself a wave.
* Change legs.

Part 7 Push Ups with flipped wrists
* Please check my most recent chaturanga tutorial on how to use the blocks
* Flip your wrists, do some push ups
* Shoulders levelled with your elbows
* Back into DownDog, walk your feet a bit in, heels pigeon toed, stress it back

Part 8 Shoulder Stretch
* both arms are parallel to the front
* Palms are flat down
* Make sure your shoulders are even and breathe

I planned to get this pose during a short stop over in #Hamburg last Friday but it was pouring when I arrived. Then I thought I get a nice shot in the studio of @yoga_pur_luebeck but I ran out of time. Then thought I would have enough time during a lunch break strolling through #Luebeck but again, nope. Sometimes it’s just not meant to be and so I let it go. I enjoyed team teaching with @carlosluyoga and my time with @binepet_yogapur and @mikeandmore_yoga_pur.
