I met Chardell last year in real life. She saw that I am not too far away from her home and she drove all the way to Bedford Hills to see and practice with me (she still drove almost 2 hours to see me 🙈). So, when Chardell told me that she is going to host a challenge to raise awarness for this rare genetic condition her son Ben has to deal with I told her I am aboard. ❤️ ⠀ Day 1 of #PhelanLucky#TeamBen22q13 is any #armbalance and I chose #EightAngle or #Astavakrasana 🔗. ⠀ Info: Phelan-McDermid Syndrome is a genetic condition also known as 22q13 Deletion Syndrome and is caused by a deletion or variation of the terminal end of the 22 chromosome. ⠀ This challenge will also run in conjunction with the annual Phelan Lucky fundraising campaign where all proceeds go to the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation which helps families just like Chardell's son Ben. The Phelan Lucky campaign will run through the 28th of January. If you choose to donate, you can choose from a variety of options: T-shirt; hoodie; or tank top, there are even options for little ones. ⠀ The link to donate www.customink.com/fundraising/phelanlucky2019 is in my story for today. With your donations make sure to put TeamBen22q13 in the “Share why you are supporting this campaign” section so we can show our love for Ben. 🍀 ⠀ 🌈Hosts: @stronger_for_ben @j.j.eyring @_balance_in_life_ ⠀ 🙏🏻Sponsors: @phelanlucky22q13 @faithfoxdesigns @designergenesmom @will2wow_jewelry @hennaluv_wilckenartshop @avjorden @mweidauer ⠀ ❤️🍀Line up: 1. Balance/Grounding/Arm Balance ✅ 2. Core 3. Inversion 4. Heart Opener 5. Yogi’s choice of a pose that scares you, but you are working on it as we are always growing in our practice and so is Ben!
Did you know? Tree Pose is the first one to prepare the needed hip rotation in your hip joints to get into full lotus. A seemingly easy pose ... but it's a friggin hard pose to get a pic of so I went with an artsy fartsy crop. 🤪 ⠀ Marichi A is such great one to prep for Malasana variations. My collage shows some variations. If your hamstrings and your bind are not there yet put yourself on a throne (blanket and wrap your mat around it so that you don't glide off it) and bent that other leg a bit. That makes the tilt in your pelvis a bit easier. Use blocks to find your backbend in that forward fold. ⠀ I practice low lunge every. single. friggin. day. With a block under my thigh to have a boundary so I can go as deep as necessary but not too deep to compromise my hip joints. I like to add either eagle arms or grabbing the elbow to calm down my adrenals.❤️ ⠀ Catching up on #30dayyogajourney with @kinoyoga day 14 TreePose with @adrianmolinaofficial, Day 15 Marichyasana A with @jacobmanningyoga, Day 16 Low Lunge with @jopheeyinyoga and sponsors @omstarsofficial@liforme@yogagivesback & @ohmmeapparel for a good cause. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #Vrksasana#Marichiyasana A #anjaneyasana#forwardfold#propstotheprops#onemillionyogis#charityyoga#yogaforagoodcause
Guess you already figured that I love the chair and of course my blocks to practice. 😂 And of course I am showing some modifications with the chair again, hoping it inspires some of you to start with yoga "although you are not flexible enough" ... YET. Only a few weeks ago I posted a crane tutorial and how I learned to gain muscle memory for it. If you check (#) dreasyogatips you will find the post. I added the chart anyway 😝
Spot the difference! ⠀ Remember? I already showed the use of the blocks on our Plank Day. If you watched Nevine's vid for that day then you know that the blocks are not used to rest on them. They are used because many just go too deep in Four Limb Staff Pose. I like to call them door stopper. And like doorstopper prevent the glass in the door from crushing in a thousand pieces the blocks protect your shoulders, your lower back. They also show you where you put probably too much effort and where you don't. ⠀ I posted many Chaturangas last August and on my last post I promised that it'll be the last for a while. Well, the "while" is over. 😝 ⠀ Swipe to see a how-to use blocks to gain muscle memories. Yes, it's the one from last year. Yes, I gained a few lbs (and ... this one is for you, Holly @yogaandchaigirl ... I'm lazy, too 😂). Check #DreasYogaTips and look for this post to read all the information. ⠀ Day 7 of #30dayyogajourney with @kinoyoga, today's guest host @dade2shelby and sponsors @omstarsofficial@liforme@yogagivesback & @ohmmeapparel for a good cause. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #chaturangadandasana#strength#fourlimbstaffpose#stabiltypose#onemillionyogis#charityyoga#yogaforagoodcause
