A great week in Jackson Hole with mornings like this (String Lake, Grand Tetons) thanks to everybody at the Photography at the Summit Workshop. Great faculty, great students, great friends. (And not bad scenery.). Until next year. Thanks everybody. @summitworkshops @natgeo @natgeocreative #nature #jacksonhole

The prow of the Viking longship reconstructed at L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland shows extraordinary workmanship. All Viking ships are clinker built; the planks were overlapped at one edge and riveted together. The Vikings made it across the Atlantic and settled here in about 1,001 AD, staying for about 20 years. @natgeoexpeditions @natgeo #canada #viking @lindbladexp #lindbladexpeditions

Viking ship reconstructed at L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland. The Vikings made it across the Atlantic and settled here in about 1,001 AD, staying for about 20 years. This was nearly 500 years before Columbus, of course. The recreated buildings are beautiful, giving a sense of their sophisticated skills. @natgeoexpeditions @natgeo #canada #viking @lindbladexp #lindbladexpeditions

Great to see my image of a llama encounter at Machu Picchu is among the travel-inspired signed prints
available for $100 from Sept. 9th - Sept. 16th. Click on the link in my profile to see all of the
signed prints featured in @natgeocreative’s Flash Sale. (These llamas are probably going to hit me up for a modeling fee.)

Heading for Newfoundland, new territory for me. Closest I've come is Nova Scotia where I got this image on a rain swept day several years ago. Looking forward to seeing the far western end of the North Atlantic. Watch for the Instagram stories to come from this trip aboard the National Geographic Explorer. @natgeo @natgeocreative @natgeotravel @natgeoexpeditions @lindbladexp #newfoundland

Rosslyn Chapel got a heavy dose of fame when Dan Brown made it a critical site in The Da Vinci Code. Ornate! @natgeocreative #scotland

Seen better days. At Armadale harbor on the Isle of Skye a couple of weeks ago on the Lord of the Glens. @natgeo @natgeotravel @natgeocreative @natgeoexpeditions @lindbladexp #scotland #skye

Sunrise as we were leaving Inverie on tha Lord of the Glens trip a couple of weeks ago. No road in or out so it's by boat or a two day hike to get here. Worth it. @natgeo @natgeotravel @natgeoexpeditions @lindbladexp #scotland #knoydart

Edinburgh Military Tattoo at the Castle last night. Spectacular display of military bands from around the world, music, dancing, light show and fireworks. Hundreds of massed pipers, too. #scotland @natgeo @natgeocreative @natgeoexpeditions @lindbladexp #edinburgh

Eilean Donan Castle is just about the most photographed castle in Scotland. So I was happy yesterday to find an angle I hadn't seen. #scotland @natgeo @natgeotravel @natgeocreative

Great breezy day on Dunnet Bay yesterday. It's a great stretch of dunes and hardly anyone in sight. @natgeo @natgeocreative #scotland

Another standing stone at the Ness of Brodgar, but not so old. Still it is furry with moss and looks like it belongs here in Orkney. @natgeo @natgeocreative #scotland #orkney

Back at one of my favorite Neolithic sites: the Stones of Stenness in Orkney. Stenness is probably the oldest stone circle in Britain, much older than Stonehenge. Fitting having sheep here since the Neolithic was the beginning of agriculture. I first came here almost twenty five years ago. Pretty evening. @natgeo @natgeocreative #scotland #orkney
