It has been an interesting few days in West Nile ( ,Africa).
So many emotional stories especially of women trying to forge a livelihood from barely nothing in the settlement camps . It's so hard to put it into words. It was also super great joining @danielgillies on this eye opening experience. #alwaysgrateful#asanteOxfam #Oxfam#Oxfamamerica
One week ago today we celebrated World Refugee Day. As a global community we honored the displaced and the destitute. And while I am delighted that such a day exists -- It's important to remember that 'Refugee Day' is every day for tens of millions of people around the globe.
Let's talk about South Sudan:
Ravaged by the forces of Civil War, 3 million people have fled their homes, 1.4 million are refugees, 100k people are starving and several million are on the brink of famine. Villages are being burned to the ground, children snatched from their homes in the night, while innocent people are butchered in the streets. And no one is talking about this.
At least not where I live.
So let's talk about it.
In a few weeks I'm going to join forces with Oxfam (One of the greatest organizations in the war against poverty -- Oxfam.org) and we're going to speak with refugees together. We're going to take some cameras into Bidibidi, Uganda. I'm going to interview the refugees there. Then I'm gonna share these interviews with you. And hopefully, you share them with as many people as you can…through whatever means... I'd like to treat them with dignity they don't seem to be receiving in the media.
We are going to listen and initiate a conversation.
This conversation begins today.
Please HIT THE LINK IN MY BIO if you would like to make a donation to the heroes at Oxfam who offer assistance and tremendous care to the refugees of the South Sudan every day.
Love and Peace --

Shocking new figures are out on the global refugee crisis: 65.6 million people, more than ever before, are now on the move, forced to flee conflict, violence and persecution.
That's one person forced to flee their home every three seconds last year. Governments must all help these people, and to tackle the root causes of the problem.
