I would like to take a moment to recognize the Fairfield Explorers who competed today in the annual CT Stations Day in Meriden. It's important to understand that the explorer program is not about winning. The program is about learning and having fun.
That being said, today our explorers put in one hundred and ten percent effort into the competition. They proved to themselves that all the hard work and training they have endured over the past few months paid off.
The Fairfield Explorers took home the following awards:
1st place in Motor Vehicle Stops (Capt. Gunter - Lt. McDade)
1st place in Search and Control (Capt. Gunter - Exp. Milfort)
2nd place in Firearms (Lt. Fodor)
3rd place in High Stress (Lt. Fodor - Exp. Bairaktaris)
3rd place in Felony Stops (Sgt. Martinez - Exp. Geter)
I would also like to recognize our two neighboring posts the Bridgeport Police Explorers and the Trumbull Police Cadets who also won many awards.
Former Explorer, F.T.E Ricco just recently graduated from Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island. Today he came back to the post to talk about his experience during boot camp and to explain the benefits of joining the military. Post 279 is proud of you!
One of the many aspects of the Law Enforcement the explorers train in is how to safely handle and operate firearms. Twice a year we train under close supervision of our police officer advisors we go down into the range and practice with the .40 cal Glock 23s, the same guns the police department Carries. _______________________________________________#policeexplorers#fairfieldsexplorers#fun#explorers#firearmssafety#training#thinblueline

Drone footage from our Wet And Sandy PT meeting we have with the Trumbull Police Cadets.
Twice a year we meet with Trumbull and have this event. It helps teach discipline, teamwork, leadership and determination, as well as pushing many of the explorers to their limits and out of the boundaries of their normal day. Shown in the video is a relay challenge amongst the different teams by going to the water and back performing a different exercise each time. _______________________________________________#fairfieldpoliceexplorers#fairfieldsexplorers#policeexplorers#thinblueline#leadership#teamwork#fun
The Explorers pictured above just graduated from the #Connecticutcadetpoliceacademy , a week long program at the University of Hartford that is divided into 7 phases which all involve competitions and hands on training.
Congratulations to all the Cadets, not just those from Fairfield, but from all over the state that completed the academy!
On Thanksgiving morning, Fairfield Explorers, with the help of Trumbull, Bridgeport, and Easton Explorers, helped work the Fairfield Turkey Trot race. Everyone was up and awake at 06:00 and worked for most of the morning! Thank you to all the Explorers and emergency service personnel that woke up on the holiday to keep the runners safe!!
Today the explorers held the bi-annual Shred - day and made a profit of $1875. The explorers hold a Shred-Day where the community can come and shred their paper in bulk for a small fee. The next shred day will be April 23th, 2016.
Over the weekend the explorers worked multiple events! Pictured above are four explorers who helped paint walls for the Old Dam Haunted House. Because of their hard work, they managed to set the building of the haunted house ahead of schedule!! Great job and keep up the hard work!!!! _______________________________________________#hardworking#policeexplorers#fairfieldsexplorers#police#painting#teamwork
