Geologist. Feminist. Mother. Sharing a wild and creative life with my two girls.
I love rock pooling. I get bored pretty quick on beaches when there isn’t much to do. I’m not a sunbather and I can’t read outside. Now searching for beach treasures whether they are alive or bits of pottery and sea glass. I can do.
Rock pooling today. We found a star fish, a little flat fish, a crab and lots of sea anemones
Wool felting with kids. On the left is my 2 yr olds and on the right my 5 yr olds. Such an easy activity for kids. Sure they have to try and avoid stabing themselves with a sharp needle but...♀️. Some supervision was needed for the 2 year old admittedly but she did it herself. I have a pen that holds three needles which is def quicker and easier than just using one needle. I can see we’ll make lots of these. They’ll be great for handmade cards. Shaping is the hard part of needle felting but just making pictures is super easy. #artwithkids#kidscrafts#craftswithkids#kidsart#woolfelting
It’s so exciting to watch the caterpillars change . Both my daughters have had caterpillars in nursery and school this year. River’s class released their butterflies today! Having them at home just a few days behind has been brilliant because River has been the expert and has told us all about them and how to look after them. Fingers crossed we get to see the butterflies emerge and don’t miss the transformation. #insectlore
Freddie the tree. We love to climb and explore for bugs here. And the woodworm patterns remind me of our floorboards
Nature journaling again. We love taking paints on walks with us
A friend and I seized the Monday and straight from dropping the big kids off at school we drove for 45 minutes to a beautiful picnic spot by a river and enjoyed a smug few hours in the sun before getting back in time to pick the big ones up again.
It’s not #30dayswild anymore but we can still climb a tree before it gets chopped up for fire wood
Some garden slack lining for day 30 of #30dayswild and that’s a wrap! Till next year.
We found yet another birds egg in our garden today and added it to our nature cabinet for day 29 of #30dayswild. But we also washed up all our bird feeders to prevent the spread of disease and found the first cherries beginning to ripen on our two ginormous cherry trees
We also took a stroll along the river in Durham for day 28 of #30dayswild
